I'm new here. And I found this forum because I was having breathing problems.

My poor breathing started about 5 weeks ago when we entered into the worst heatwave we,ve ever had in South East Queensland.

The humidity was very high but that wasn't the problem because the air was cooked and was like soup and you couldn't breathe it.

Things are a little bit better now because the temperature has cool down. I will write more later when I catch my breath.

Welcome Albert84, i do hope you are more comfortable now. Maybe you need to see doctor for check over. The intense heat certainly doesnt help with breathing.

welcome to our group albert.

Yes, Albert, I understand what the Queensland heat does. See your GP if you feel very breathless. It will be Winter soon and then I will be complaining about the cold. Extreme temperatures aren't good, that's for sure. Lots of advice on this site, and lots of friendly people to talk to. Take care and take it easy.

Hello Albert. Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about your breathing issues. I live in Japan and every summer I suffer. It's just very hot and humid so I totally sympathise. I hope the cooler weather helps.

Take good care.

Welcome to the forum, Albert. I have great difficulty breathing in high humidity, so have some idea of how you're feeling. Hope the weather improves very quickly and you feel better soon. Good luck at the doctor's. Let us know how you get on.

G'Day Albert84...yes bloody humidity or bloody cold affects my breathing big time. I have the copd, stage four....basically not good!! I am wondering if you have been prescribed any puffa's or inhalers e.g. ventolin? Regardless if you have a lung disease or not as we age so everything else does too!! and so breathing is not as it use to be. I do feel for you guys up North...,I couldn't live there due to humidity. I was working up in Darwin and had to get out on the prawn trawlers (this was many moons ago) because i couldn't breath back then!! I am in Melbourne now and we have extreme temperatures. Word has it Sydney's weather is more suitable to those with lung issues. Anyways...all the very best...take and enjoy!

Thank you all for your wonderful messages of help.

All I can say for now is that my breathing has improved and I don't know if I should say anymore in this introduction thread.

Thanks I wasn't sure if he's supposed to talk too much in my introduction thread.

I first narrowed down the problem to my blood pressure tablets and to be more specific it was the betaloc 50 gram tablets making it hard to breathe. Well I should be more specific and so it was all my medication making it hard to breathe . So I slightly cut down on my blood pressure tablets.

Just about all medications make it hard to breathe as far as I can work out . Except for the puffer the doctor prescribe to me which only used a couple of times.

Also now when I feel it's starting to get hard to breathe I immediately take a deep breath or two.

I am slightly overweight and I have a potbelly and this puts pressure on my diaphragm which I suppose puts pressure on my lungs a bit so I have to try and lose weight.

My wife she showed me a good exercise to help your lungs and that is by standing at a doorway lifting your arms as high as you can and pushing forward so that your chest opens up. It's also good to improve your posture.

And also it has got a lot cooler and it has been a fantastic relief, and the humidity has dropped down too.

Thank you one and all.

You are right Albert84 carrying extra weight does make breathing harder. Keeping active will help you stay well. This information from the British Lung Foundation helped me figure out ways to cope with feeling breathless. You may find it helpful too.

I hope you're having a lovely weekend so far.

Dear Albert84 , you must be feeling very uncomfortable right now. I hope the weather soon cools down for you. Has your doctor offered you any help? I am afraid I don't have any answers. Welcome to BLF, I am sure there are many here who can help you.

My breathing is almost fine now.

I think the problem was that I was taking too many blood pressure tablets and it was causing breathing problems.

But I will still continue to do things which will help my breathing even further.
