Hi Dave there could a number of causes for this.. The best advice would be to see your GP. There are a number of simple tests that can eliminate causes. lack of sleep can affect you in many ways do not put up with it if the causes can be eliminated.
I would ask the GP who can then eliminate any obvious reasons for it. Could be habit, I always wake up between 2-4am every night for the toilet, it's a habit.
Hi Dave, my husband (who's 68 now) had had this problem for a while, not just at night but also feeling the need to go frequently during the day, so he finally went to his GP. Having examined him the doctor gave him some tablets which he takes once a day after breakfast - and they have performed miracles. He now doesn't need to get up for the loo more than once a night, if at all, and is back to a more normal number of visits during the day.
Do go to your GP as soon as possible. I hope they find your problem is as straightforward as my husband's.
Inclined Bed Therapy (which I only got to know about on here) has so many benefits and one of them is not having to go to the loo during the night. It seems works for some people so perhaps worth a try.
Yes, I get up 2 to 3 times a night still, but that has improved on the 4 to 6 times a night I used to clock up before my GP changed my blood pressure medication. I use story CDs to help me get back to sleep, to distract that night time washing machine mind.
