Has anyone had side effects due to azithromycin? Mainly headaches, fuzzy pressure around head, fatigue and slight dizziness?

Hello and welcome to the forum. There is a long (very long) list of side effects here: drugs.com/sfx/azithromycin-...

My advice would be to discuss any worries with your GP or pharmacist.

I've had similar with some other antibiotics, but haven't had to take azithromycin yet so not sure about that one. As others have suggested, discuss with your doctor or pharmacist as they will find something different to try instead.

I’ve been on azithromycin for seven months and had any side effects so far, although I aldready had the fuzzy head thing. I was diagnosed with RA in 2004 and I put that down to one of the other meds I was taking, probably mtx because I’ve been on that the longest. My rheumatologist helpfully said that it was my body’s way of dealing with RA!

Had that with Erythromycin which is a similar one I think. Sometime soon they can pass but speak to the doctor he may be able to find an alternative

I’ve been on Azithromycin for almost the last 10 yrs. Cannot say that I have or have not had side effects from it. I’m on about five other medications for COPD and two for blood pressure. The Azithromycin has stopped me having recurring chest infection which put me in bed of up to two weeks at a time. So I’m v happy with Azithromycin.

I had a lot of gastrointestinal side effects, but nothing like you describe. Hope they wear off soon xx

Do you mind me asking what your gastrointestinal side effects are? I've been on Azithromycin for about 2 years now. I do suffer bloating and feel full very quickly. I cannot put weight on and I would like to - it would help me stop feeling so cold! Is this your experience?

Unfortunately azithromycin gave me severe diarrhoea, wind, and mild fecal incontinence. Very unpleasant and embarrassing. I was taken off it 18 months ago and have been without these problems since. I have only had a couple of exacerbations in the last year too, which is not bad!

I echo what CandiR has stated. No problems.

Yes I have had similar to you viz. an adverse reaction to Azithromycin. I was put on them as a three times a week maintenance dose but never felt quite 'right' on them so stopped and went back to just having my doxycycline when I needed it - so you are not alone it obviously does not suit everyone - as others have said I would speak to your doctor. Good luck xx

Hi there, yes I had problems with Azithromycin - at first I felt slightly dizzy then I felt my hearing was quite bad, went to GP and she did tell me that deafness was a big side affect of it and took me off it and put me on Co-Trimoxazole 3 days Mon/We’d/Fri. Fine now, hope you get sorted xx

See your doctor, it's getting some bad press at present.
