I have no idea whether this is of any help, I tripped over it the other day.

Better to see a doctor. - I had hoarseness and a little difficulty swallowing. I have GERD and food does not travel down quickly. Food can come back up and even enter your windpipe, in fact I am going to hospital on Tuesday to learn to swallow another way. May not be that but there are lots of reasons for hoarseness - Better getting it checked. keep Well.

Hello Bonnie. When I was diagnosed with emphysema and copd, I said about hoarseness and I was sent to ear nose and throat consultant. He put a camera up my nose and it went down my throat. He said that I had a problem (due to the way I breathe) with the muscles around my vocal chords not being strong enough to push them back in position. I was then sent to adult speech therapy. They explained how it all worked in the throat and gave me voice exercises to do. My voice is a lot better then an it was, the hoarseness seems a bit worse when my breathing is not very good. Hope this is of some help. Good luck to you. 👍🤓

Hi Roysieboy. I am going on Tuesday to the adult speech therapy. This is to learn how to swallow, a little different to you, but I had the tube up the nose. It was a Barium xray that found my problem, food mobility in getting out of the upper tract. Like you I have emphysema but doubt that has any bearing on this condition.. Are you will these adult speech therapy staff long and are there a lot of follow ups. Costsme a fortune in petrol and car parking, I seem to have so many visits these days..

Greetings Ern. The first time I went lasted about 45 mins that was where people with different problems were all together. Then I attended 3 more times where it was on one to one basis, each one of these lasted around 25mins. Whether it will be like that for you I am not sure. I am lucky that I have bus pass. I know what you mean about how much the car parking is. Good luck to you. 👍🤓

Thank you for your kind reply Roysieboy. Does not sound that long thank heavens. I live in a village so a car is essential. I have a blue parking badge, but hospitals in my area still charge for parking. Thank's again.

The worst thing is I get hoarse and generally it goes if I talk a lot but answering phone at work is a problem.

I had camera up nose and it was ok apparently. I did notice once when I tried to stop smoking with lozenges I got burn spots in my mouth and down my throat which may have burned my voice box as I was on them longer than I should have. Went cold turkey in the end. Bit long winded hope you are a patient person.😜

I became very hoarse for quite a time, eventually had camera up nose and down throat and diagnosed with GERD. My voice eventually returned once heartburn was controlled.
