I have been experiencing gerd like symptoms for about a month after having a sinus infection (which is still lingering) and a persistent issue has been eating. I’ve lost a ton of weight because I have some difficulty swallowing , heartburn and the worse symptom is the hoarse voice. Every time I eat or drink my voice gets croaky like I need to clear it and sometimes mucus comes up. Sometimes I end up coughing while I eat because it feels like it went down the wrong way or because I can feel phlegm tickling my throat. I was worried it was dysphagia but my voice doesn’t rlly sound “wet” or gurgly just hoarse
Any idea what this could be ? Still a sinus infection ? Or just gerd ?

Heartburn, hoarse voice and difficulty swallowing can all be caused by reflux but whatever the cause you need to get it checked out, especially as your losing weight as a result of it. If it is reflux there are prescription medications that will help but you need to get it investigated now. Reflux can cause serious damage over time so please don't just put up with it, go and see your doc.
Thanks I’m scheduled for blood tests tomorrow because they think it may be linked to thyroid issues. I experience palpitations too which is part of it. It’s taken three doctor visits for them to test me - they keep saying I’m too young and healthy to have anything serious which is ridiculous. I have anxiety eating and it hurts when I do eat. Constant coughing when eating is stressful - plus I’m dehydrated so I’m hoping they can help hydrate me since liquids is also difficult
You're right - it is ridiculous to fob you off with such a stupid response. No one is 'too' young or 'too' healthy to become ill, and you don't have to be a doctor to know that not all illnesses are glaringly obvious. I'd urge you to ask for an endoscopy even if you dread the thought of having one. I'm not sure what a blood test is going to tell them about what's going on with your oesophagus but an endoscopy would, even if all it did was rule it out as the source of the problems you're having it will have served a purpose. It's glaringly obvious to me that 'no matter what the cause' you're symptoms seem mainly to relate to the oesophagus - so I urge you to push for an endoscopy ASAP. Wishing you well.
I'm sorry you aren't doing so well. I am very hesitant to offer any kind of opinion because this is really a condition that needs to be seen by a doctor. I should imagine you'd need to have a thorough investigation , maybe an endoscopy. It is better to be safe, and then they can treat the underlying problem. It sounds as though you should have it assessed as soon as possible. I hope you get the help you need and feel better soon.
I think the consensus would be that you see your gp for evaluation as soon as you can. GERD is known to have “ links” with lung problems but you need help if you are losing so much weight. Hope you get some answers soon. Good wishes.
