Hi all I have had terrible chest pains since before Christmas now I was diagnosed with pleurisy a month or so ago anyway after 2 lots of different antibiotics I’m still in a lot of pain I was sent for an X-ray that showed fluid on the lungs and now I have been sent for a ct scan but it could take 2weeks has anyone experienced this? What was the outcome? I’m still working but now my office are asking questions and wondering if I should even be at work I can’t afford the time off in all honesty but would appreciate others input I’m quite worried thank you

Hello Ronnil. I'm so very sorry to hear that you're having such a difficult time, and I'm afraid that I can't help, but just wanted to wish you the best of luck, and I hope that you are feeling much better very soon. XXX

Hi, I had fluid on my lungs due to pneumonia. Which was confirmed by the CT scan. After finishing a long course of antibiotics both in hospital and at home my chest infection cleared. I follow up CT scan about six weeks later showed the fluid and inflammation had gone. I believe your Doctor is covering all possibilities by ordering a CT scan. I have had pleurisy on a few occasions and know how painful it is. The advice given to me was rest. I don't know if keeping working is the best thing you can do. By carrying on you may be increasing the length of your illness by not allowing your body time to recover. Have you any holiday days left?

Thank you for your reply badbessie I do have 5days left which I have booked for next mon-fri I have only had 10 days off the week beginning the 12th so I am having some time I keep getting told stories of people dying from fluid on the lungs and it’s actually quite scary but suppose I won’t know anything until I get this ct scan, will they tell me right away if something is wrong? Did you not have any other signs of pneumonia? I bet that was scary I had my bloods and all my obs done which all came back fine xx
