Sucralfate

Has anyone had sucralfate prescribed for really bad reflux/mucus if so any problems did it work....or help it’s my last chance saloon no other meds have helped at all thanks carol

I haven't used it carolg1 1 but I know someone who does. She has it for her acid reflux and as long as she remembers to take it on any empty stomach (an hour before you eat or two hours after) it seems to work well for her.

I forgot to add that she also has to leave 2 hours between taking it and taking any other meds.

Thanks mrsmummy there is a lot to remember when taking it I keep reading the instructions to try and work out when best to take it 🙄 thanks xx

She organises by taking it when she wakes, has breakfast an hour later and takes her morning meds an hour after that. Good luck with it.

Does it matter about any drinks tea water etc do you know or fortisips food supplements ? Xx

The drinks are okay but I would ask GP/chemist about the fortisip. The sucralfate has to dissolve and line your stomach before food to be effective.

Hi Mrs mummy, could you ask your friend how long before the sucralfate started to work I’m on my third day and I’m having a terrible time I take it first thing on an empty stomach when I get up within an hour I’ve got awful gut pain, and the jel like slime is coming up nearly all day I was bad before but this is unbearable I rang my doc and he said give it a few more days !! I’m prepared to but just wondered what your friend noticed in the beginning thanks xx
