Having read several comments, with regard to constant chest infections, I have emergency pack, consisting of 5mg predisalone, and antibiotics, Doxycycline, I have had COPD for 15 yrs, I have visited my G.P. Several times since Christmas, have had three courses of antibiotics since end of December, two courses of predisalone, 30 mg for five days, as instructed, BUT CHEST INFECTION rescuers within a week of completion of extra medicTion..I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATED anyones thought or comments on any success you may have had, to rid of a chest infection for good.

My first thought was as your GP sent a sputum specimen. Your infection could need a different antibiotic. Or you may need a longer dose. There is a possibility that you may need a combination of antibiotics.

Thank you, for reply, my husband is quite a constant concern n worry, poor thing. We are taking on board all replies, and will be asking his consultant all the suggestions in the replies, ..thank you again.

Hello Anji

Several suggestions, go to your GP to have a check up because repeating the same antibiotics doesn’t always clear your infections you need some blood/sputum tests to see what is going on.

2. Is prevention, a treatment review would see if your preventer is still effective, often it is down to our inhalers and inhaling techniques.

3. Get a referral to talk it over with a respiratory specialist if you haven’t been to hospital for a while.

Good luck x
