Oral thrush

Has anyone got any tips on how to get rid of oral thrush. I'm so fed up with having a sore mouth and everything tasting disgusting. I've tried Nystatin but it's not working for me.

Hi there just had a conversation about this

healthunlocked.com/blf/post... not sure if the link will work but it was yesterday so should be easy to find.

There is a one shot pill that I take as well but as my wife normally gets it I cannot remember the name of it. I use the gargle and also my doctor gives me Daktarin gel oral when it gets bad.

I know how it feels and had my meds changes because of getting it every time I use a dry powder with steroid inhaler.

Hope you get it sorted

I too have this problem. I'm given Daktarin rather than Nystan. I read that rinsing mouth with salt water helps, as well as mixing up a paste of bicarbonate of soda & water and coating the tongue! Both these make me retch so can't use either very often. I'll be trying the natural yoghurt, as advised by Shancock above.

I find it very interesting how some seem to suffer from this whilst others do not. I like many other rinse mouth after taking medications and never get Thrush whilst others just as careful seem to always suffer from this. Is it due to medications or other factors? Perhaps research is needed. I know it's not high on many people's importance list but with anything that affects our ability to eat etc it is perhaps a preventable part of our condition that we need not suffer.

I find cordysal mouthwash is good. Look for the medicated mouthwashes, they can help x

Im sorry, but I've only just seen this thanks to Cas. I suffered dreadfully with oral thrush, but received some excellent advice and adopted a strict routine which works for me. It's a bit of a palaver, but worth it. As soon as I have used my inhaler I clean my teeth, then rinse my mouth with water, then gargle with water, then rinse and gargle with the Corsodyl that contains the anti-fungal. I also try to eat a portion of probiotic yoghurt each day. I hope that this helps. Good luck. XXX
