1 week off the patches and craving

Hi all

I stopped smoking on 5th November and started a 12 week course of patches. Had 8 weeks on the highest strength then 2 weeks on a lower one and then last 2 weeks on the lowest strength. Since I stopped the patches a week ago I have really been craving !

I have been such a moody cow especially at home to my husband. I just feel so low and down and that I haven’t smiled for a long time now.

I just need some words to ensure me that these cravings will go and hopefully soon ?

I really hope so !

Thanks

They will I promise!

Im moody all the time don't worry about it. And it's your husbands fault anyway for being a man.

Hang in there it's will get better and you will see huge rewards for your effort in time , that I guarantee.

Use it as an excuse to be rude to everyone, it won't last

Hi you are doing fantastic so keep on going. How about using the white inhalator from the doctors (I am still using it) to help with the cravings then withdraw slowly from that. Or get an e-cig.

The most important thing is to pack in the fags which you have done. x

Hi Kathy321. It DOES get better. You are at crunch point now and the cravings are a last ditch attempt to pull you back into the addiction. Stay strong and they will fade. Did you have a look at the quit site for extra support? healthunlocked.com/quitsupport

Good luck getting over the cravings its not easy. I stopped about the same time as you and when i get bad cravings i use a nicorette. I'm sure sometimes its actually empty but just going through the motions of pretending seems to do it for me.

Well done - you have won - even if you have still strong cravings. You maybe wont feel great for a few more weeks but believe me you have beaten the weed!!

I got a white inhaler with a box of capsule things to suck from the surgery and that saw me through until I just didn't need them any more.

Keep going, don't weaken and good luck - you deserve it.

Well done you, can guarantee the cravings will stop, sure your husband understands why you are feeling like you are. Give yourself a pat on the back, and treat yourself with the money you save for giving up the ciggies.

I’ve tried everything over the years to stop and the e cig is the only thing that has worked for me it’s been 2 years now and only have the occasional puff of my e cig which has no nicotine in the vape I now use so keep going as smoking is the worst thing you can do with any lung condition I would have stopped 30 years ago if I had known what copd was like

Hi Kathy, I gave up using an e cig but before I did I spoke with my doctor and he recommended using one, so did the COPD nurse and I haven't smoked for 4 years it was the best thing I ever did, I had no withdrawl symptoms and no cravings, just thought it might be an avenue for you to explore, you can buy the liquids in different strengths and just have a few puffs when feeling low or stressed. Good luck

Well done, that is brilliant. I’m sure your husband understands. We all need someone to moan at every now and then and unfortunately it’s those who we are closest too. But just keep thinking how well you have done and it will get easier. 👍🙌
