So do I, it’s part of having copd had a productive cough for two years, and I know lots of copd sufferers who also cough. Just have to get on with it, no amount of antibiotics will get rid of it. Also I haven’t smoked for 20 years. Pauline White
Hi cough1234, poor you, what a nightmare to be on antibiotics for so long and still not know what the problem is. I cant advise you but Im sure that somebody on here will have some info. Its a minefield trying to understand our problems and how to deal with them. Try to keep warm and take good care of yourself. Irene x
Hi Cough1234, are they sure it's not bronchiectasis? Like you I had a cough with mucus for years. No amount of antibiotics or inhalers worked as they thought it was Asthma. I had a scan but it was diagnosed after another test. The test where they put a tube up your nose and down into your lungs to take a lung sample (sorry don't know the right name 😳). I think you need to return to your GP and put pressure on them to do further tests. Trust me I learned the hard way. I lived with my cough for over 7 years and it caused scaring on my lungs which caused more damage.... return to your GP, they don't live with the cough you do!!! God bless you and all the best 👍🏾
What is the difference between copd and bronchiectasis I have had a productive cough for two years but my breathing is pretty good and I haven’t had a chest infection for two years. The gptells me I have copd and the cough is part of it, I am now worried that I have been misdiagnosed. Pauline White
My ct scan showed I didn’t have bronchiectasis however the drs have now accepted that I have finally after 2 1/2 years of messing around. I was coughing to a lesser or greater degree all the time and on and off antibiotics and steroids and inhalers. Finally the consultant agreed to put me on long term antibiotics and touch wood I have been well since then! I’m having the best winter I’ve had for 3 years! I do still look after myself by avoiding people who are ill, using first defence and multivitamins and getting the flu jab but in previous years this has made no difference. You should keep going back as I thought I was going to have to live with a constant cough and now I’m not I realise how debilitating it was! Hope you get some answers soon x
