I have recently been sent home from hospital after having had a bilateral pulmonary embolism. They have given me a prescription for anticoagulents which I am doing well on so far but I am frightened though in case this happens again and I am not so lucky next time.
this was a right shock as it was unprovoked and came out of the blue and I am frightened about what is going to happen to me and what the future holds.
I am back walking again without problems now which is progress.
thanks for your advice. they put me on an anticoagulant for 6 months which has helped so far. It was a real shock though when it happened. I have been signed off work for 2 weeks by my gp so I can recover which should help.
im bloody glad I went to a and e when I did though!
Eat healthily in particular foods that can help flush your arteries, look it up on the net BUT don`t go into google no,no,no
Use NHS site and then look for food varieties on line.
Basically fresh fruit, cut down a lot on fats and exercise the best you can.
Also drink plenty of fluid (water).
Regards Tom.
you take things that are on google with a pinch of salt! the nhs direct line were very helpful when I said I was worried about things and so was the out of hours nurse when I rang them because I was worried about having a heavier period than usual and she said see your gp tomorrow to see what they can do for you so I will do just that.
I am on a drug called rivabaroxan which is a more modern type of anticoagulant and I am worried about having internal bleeding on it.
