Pleurisy
Hi Lyn1955. I have just started anti biopics for my second bout of pleurisy this year. Have you been referred to lung physiology? I have bronch but a lot of people in my first session had emphysema, I’ve found it helpful in clearing my lungs but also in noticing the first signs of infection, change in color and consistency of mucus etc.
I have a rescue pack (14dayd of antibiotics and steroids) at home so that I can start straight away rather Han letting it worsen whilst I try to get a Drs app.
I’m 36 with bronchiectasis and I don’t smoke, it doesn’t seem fair sometimes but I try and take each day as it come (and each infection).
Thank you for your reply no I have not been referred to lung physiology not sure we have anything like that here in Kent
It would be worth visiting your dr and being referred to the lung clinic. I got more from the specialist than I ever did with y dr. The specialist sorted the proper inhalers, rescue pack, physio and I actually felt like I was being believed when I told them my symptoms.
Ask your chest physician or GP to refer you to Royal Brompton, advanced COPD clinic. They have a huge research centre there and there are lots of research projects ongoing which gives you the opportunity to get treatments not necessarily available to the market. Also testing and scanning, physio specifically for your needs. Hopefully this may help. Good luck
Hi Lyn
I would ask for a referral to the lung clinic so you can have a proper check up, lung functions, and a medication review. Once there ask for pulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory physiotherapy.
Best of luck,
Fran x
No wonder you're fed up Lyn - hope the meds for pleurisy finally clear up everything. I'm still recovering from chest infection/inflammation which started 8 weeks ago and landed me in hospital. Its very, very slow progress. Some really good advice above from Lealee and Happylondon. Good luck with everything x
Sorry. I hope you get better very quickly.
