Hello dear friends. I have come here in hopes of finding others who understand the daily struggles of breathing. I am 54 yrs old and have had COPD for 15 yrs. asthma since I was a young child. I never fool around with my lung health as for me it can change drastically in minutes. Been at Drs and hospital 3 times this week. Pain under right breast when breathing in. Never had it so severe before. Many tests dones....was told pneamonia....then told I had blood clots in right lung....then tests reveled I have a tear in bottom right lung. Sent home on prednisone antibiotics and pain meds. Feeling seriously ill. Cant sleep as I can not lay down as the pain is just too much. Anyone else gone through this? How long should my lung take to heal? Thanks for listening. Laurie
Feeling breathless: Hello dear friends... - Lung Conditions C...
Feeling breathless
I am guessing that you live in the UK, if so can you ring your doctors surgery, or 111 for advice. The BLF also have a helpline 03000 030 555.
I can sympathise as in the past I have had pneumonia and suspected lung clots, and now the muscles in my rib cage are very painful for some reason and sleep is difficult .
Take care
I live in Canada...but have joined this lovely group for support and information. I am unable to get in to see my doctor until nov 3rd as he is very busy. Thanks for listening.
Hi GrammaLaurie, I don't know if there is a similar advice line in Canada, we are lucky here having the BLF.
Hopefully your medications will start to take effect soon, best wishes .
I can't believe they didn't keep you in the hospital for at least a few days, with all those symptoms. And what about the clots, will you have to take blood thinners ?
Tha pain from pneumonia can be very severe but does improve with treatment. Did they suggest any reason/explanation for the tear in your lung ?
If you get any worse, call an ambulance.
Hoping that you get some relief from the pain soon.

Starting to heal. Went to family doctor today. He says I may have coughed in my sleep and created the tear in my lung. It is on the mend, gave me more prednisone and pain meds. Was told sleep would be what heals me. Thanks fir all your concern...hope you are all breathing easy ... Laurie
hi grammalaurie
regarding how long u will take 2heal. 2b honest there's no specific time limit cos every person's body heals differently so wot time I take 2heal may not n the same 4u. I am recovering from 2bouts of pneumonia and i still have that pain when inhaling and I been out of hospital nearly 2mths now. As 4 the daily struggles of living with Copd and breathlessness I control my breathlessness and pain in my lungs thru very soft breathing and meditation( u have 2believe it will work 4it 2work. If it doubtful then it won't. The power of one's own mind is incredible if u allow itself believe
I hope I have found this useful
