Been for skin tests and ct results to try see what is problem with my lungs as last appointment he told me i dont have asthma ....even though ive been treated and had three different inhalors for last 20 yrs!!!
Ive had bad infection since before xmas which ive been on different antibiotics for due to crackles in my lung and feeling ill also had steroids been on 10mg since feb but can reduce to 5 then 0 following and stop antibiotics. Back to see him in four weeks to see how breathing etc is. My ct scan was clear so he thinks i could have chronic bronchitis which appears in winter infections ....need to discuss a treatment / managment plan for this yr.
What is this ive never smoked ? How is it managed because as i said to him i cant keep taking 3 months off work every year!!!
My breathing tests were fev1 messured 2.14 predicted 2.67 %predicted 80 z score -1.39
I have no idea what they mean
Thanks Judith xxx

Hi Judith well at least you know now and hopefully they will come up with a plan to help especially come the dreaded winter months. This diagnosis comes under the copd umberella.Im afraid I dont understand your numbers ,they are different to mine, but Im sure there is someone here who knows how to interpret yours. At least you have something definite to work with and start helping to hopefully prevent the nasties come the cold weather.I bet you will be glad to finish with the abs and steroids! Keepwell and takecare now Janexx
Hi Jane thank you ...yes it is something at least my mind can rest as uncertainty makes it go into overdrive !!
He wants to see what happens without the steroids helping and if infection pops up without the antibiotics.
Its the plan of treatment i want in place as the last five years have had me miss xmas with my family and work for three months of the year......i was only 45 when it happened and ive never smoked ate well not obese i trained with personal trainer every week(im starting again this week) rode my horses and was active then this out of blue. I know i.m not as ill as some of the lovely people on here and i thank god for that . Im very grateful for kind words and advice . Hope you are keeping better the sun is out again yeeey . Love Judith xxxxx
Hi, some good news. I think i've said it before. All a similar story to mine only I do have asthma which was always mild and some small lung damage areas from infections & pneumonias.
Did they check for the alpha1 defeciency?? That would be a good move - in my opinion - and thorough tests of your sputum to ensure your lungs aren't colonised with a difficult bug to shift. That's what I'd be checking if I were you anyway.
I think I was taken over by this when my immune system was rock bottom from exhaustion. That's my theory anyway and so I'm bulding myself up slowly in the hope of fighting infections in the future, this winter only 2 of them. good luck, Peeg
Thank you Peeg. No he hasnt tested for that i asked at first consultation and he said no you dont have that....think he wants to see how my breathing is as will be two months without inhalers and two weeks without steroids.
I have done everything i can to try and stay well in past had flu jabs worked out ate well and still ive had infections. Ive found advice on hear very valuable ...im taking manuka honey got my antibacterial wipes sprays to use when out ..im using first defence spray when ever i go out in public . If i get a management plan so i can start before autumn so it cuts down infections thats all i ask for...ive got low immunity due to my meds for rheumy . I did say to him yesterday i cant keep taking 3-4 months off every winter !! I see my gp nxt tues so will see what she wants to do luckily after my last experience shes very much for my getting a treatment plan xxx judith
Hi Judith ...those numbers seem a tad odd ...at least it's seems your getting to the bottom of your probs ....best of luck with getting off the meds ...hope things work out ...hugs Wes xx
