how does the weather affect your breathing? is there any particular weather that appears to cause you a problem? I am also tired after a meal and can easily fall asleep for about half an hour. went out to dinner Friday evening and dozed off in the pub, someone thought I was drunk! could have been embarrassing, and it was not boredom with friends, but I just could not stay awake. was right as rain afterwards.
hope all is well with all. cheers.

HI Cold windy weather affects my breathing most and damp weather, unlike some i have no problems with either heat or humidity.Mostly i just hate English weather lol ..............skis x
thank you for your reply. it is said, 'if you can live in the UK with its weather you can live anywhere in the world' think I would agree with that. I am still trying to sort out which is best for me. cheers.
Hi. The worst thing for me is damp weather, particularly if there's any thunderstorms lurking. I do feel very sleepy after food, but have never nodded off....not yet anyway! 😊XXX
I love the spring and autumn - it's the extremes I can't cope with especially too hot (which is anything above 20' nowadays) or worst of all hot & humid. I love cold crisp sunny days and walk out even in January & February - but- as I live in temperate Cornwall it's rarely so cold that it actually freezes. Looking forward to autumn & winter... other than the damp & rainy days. Oh and yes ... always nod off after food!
Cold and wind literally take my breath away......but even opening the fridge door has been known to make me wheeze at times. I am fine when it's warm or in hot weather....we are all so different.
thank you all for replying. it was warm on Saturday and no problem with the breathing. Today damp and warm - no problem. think will find out later in year what affects me most.
cheers.
Rainy thundery weather as barometric pressures are low it dosent affect my breathing it just makes me feel sluggish xxx
Those dreaded 100 degree Summer days with 80%+ humidity are quite harsh, I enjoy Fall. If I don't eat for a very long period and eat a meal high in carbs or sugar I've had that happen, it's like I took a sleeping pill but after a short nap I'm ok, it's rare for me but I know that feeling.
I am not sure that getting tired is necessarily connected with lung function. But from my condition that is bronchiectasis the pattern of exacerbations is directly connected to the change of seasons,Autumn and Spring equinox and Winter and Summer solstice,
I was reading a translation of the history of the Yellow Emperor who ruled China around 5000 years ago. There is a reference in there to thr effect of seasonal changes on the lungs.Nothing new under the sun!!!
I find the wind and damp effects my breathing, can't walk & talk as I need to concentrate on breathing too much, drives my partner mad as she always appears to be talking to herself.
Have found a partial cure for this, bought a disabled chariot & try to spend 3/4 months away in the sun. Can't get away from the wind tho'. At least with the wine I have an excuse to nod off with the conversation going on without me (Spare part really).
Yes, weather affects how I feel and how labored my breathing is; I live in Georgia, USA and the humidity here in the summer is deadening for a while but we all (even healthy people) simply slow down a bit and things simply take a bit longer.
As for drowsiness after a meal, that's always been a problem the older I got but is becoming less controllable as I hit my mid 70s; however, if I get up and force myself to move around and maybe step outside for a breath or two of fresh air, I can continue and stop looking like the doddering old fool I fear I'm fast becoming. Next, I suppose I'll begin having a bit of spittle dripping from my chin. OH, WOE IS ME..., WOE IS ME !!
Also, when I turned on my computer this morning, the FIRST thing I saw was that a giant hurricane is headed for Britain. Batten down the hatches, y'all !!!
Hi spooks36, I have been away for a break hence the late reply. I find cold weather makes the cough worse and heat makes the breathing difficult have to try and find a happy medium, but we are all different.
hello Katie. thank you for your reply. It certainly helps when others state their observations. today where I live is damp, slight breeze but warmish and i have no trouble breathing at present. I have a sort of tingling down my back- more on the right side. I say tingling as not sure how else to describe it. Not painful. Lasted about 5 minutes. Have had it once before. I was wondering if wearing a mask or scarf round the mouth when it is very cold and windy would help. shall have to wait and see. Have you tried that Katie and if so does it work? hope you break was a good one. cheers.
Hi Spooks36, some Europeans wear face masks when out. But many people find a scarf works well. It is said a hat helps keep you warm and it truelly does. Some people use them cowel type scarfs that you can wear round the neck and pull up round your mouth if needs be, but forget what they are called.I use an ordinary wide scarf . Pains or sensations around the chest areas are often fleeting I get pains in the rib region but they don't last unless its muscle strain or lung infection. Have a good day
