I don't know if anyone else knows different but I was on phone to a friend who is on Oxygen 24/7 and was told that they (BOC) are not doing the cylinders any more ? Does this mean we will be "prisoners" in our homes.
I don't know if any of the other areas are withdrawing this service ??
Keep well all xxx

Being on oxygen 24/7 would she not be on fixed concentrater with cylinder back up in case of power cut.
Ambulitory can be cylinder, liquid, or portable concentrater
If she as concerns I would speak to the respitory nurse who supplies the prescription, they decide the most suitable equipment, not the provider. There are four providers I the UK.
Hi Stone, yes she is on oxygen generators and she has bought a Inogen 3, paid about £2/3000.00.
I have not had any news but I will be asking BOC first thing in the morning ??
I myself have oxygenerator one downstairs, one upstairs and the emergency one plus I have 7 portables for out and about, so I am a bit upset if is true ?!
I am getting a new supply of cylinders tomorrow from BOC. was on the phone to them today and I am sure they would have said something to me if things were changing.
Why would they stop the cylinders? They are a supplier of medical oxygen and the cylinders are just one way to receive it.
I have a concentrator plus cylinders (for when I am ambulatory).
I still get my cylinders from BOC. Maybe she has been recommended something different such as a concentrator in the house if she's on O2 24/7, but you can have cylinders as well for using outside
Another explanation maybe that BOC are no longer going to be the suppliers for her area - they have to bid for the contract and it may have been awarded to another O2 company
All patients prescribed Oxygen via "Hoof" referral, who have 02Concentrators, will always be given Large 02 Cylinders, to use should there be a power cut.As w.well as portable cylinders for ambulatory use.Apart from my late Husband having c.o.p.d., and I've just been diagnosed with mild c.o.p.d, I have worked as a Respiratory Nurse for 20Years.There does seem to be a lot of mis_Information with regards to Oxygen.
As far as I know, another 0 2Company is taking over from B O C.As is often the case, things have not been made clear , leaving people with understandable concerns.Nobody's Home Oxygen. Will be effected from what I'm told by my colleagues.
