Hi just looking into a potential getaway. Has anyone had experience of hiring holiday oxygen to South of France and willing to share their experiences? Recommend any suppliers and costs.
Unfortunately I’ve been informed:
Vivitravel is the private arm of Dolby Vivisol. It would normally privately hire the loan of oxygen to assist with the flight/transfers, however this service has been suspended since the beginning of the pandemic and is still not operational in Scotland.
I require Continuous flow 6litre/min.
I’m planning on getting there by car as I’m not confident about flying yet with my breathing issues.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, when I was using a POC I was able to travel down through France and spend the winter in Spain, no problem. Would mostly travel by car and occasionally fly. Twice I flew with the POC to the US.
However, now on continuous flow 5 litres per min, albeit still on ambulatory I am finding it impossible to consider travelling outside of this country. The amount of organisation required to make the trip is too much and I haven’t even looked at the cost.
Brittany Ferries only allow 6 bottles of 10 litres of 02 in their ferries and only one of them is permitted outside of the car garage aboard. So that makes that impossible. Crossing Dover - Calais would possible I guess if you can find someone to supply the 02 for travel.
Of course flying with LOX is out of the question.
So I will have to stick to travelling in this country for now. Sorry I can’t be more positive.
There was a post a while ago from someone who travelled from Scotland to N Ireland and holidayed there and all went well. I think arranged by Vivisol ?
I will take a look and see if I can find it for you.
I have ventured to Republic of Ireland since pandemic and was so impressed with vivisol holiday oxygen organisation. Been a few times now as it’s given me confidence that oxygen supplies in Ireland isn’t a problem.
Im longing for some sunshine so further afield is required.
It’s complex trying to find info as some of the sites are in French and the language barrier isn’t helping.
Still in the early days of research but understand the planning could take awhile.
Here’s hoping I can inspire you to get further afield if you so wish.
Ah he he , so it was you you ventured to Ireland and I remember how successful your trip was too and how much you enjoyed it.
After you telling me how successful that was for you I did take a look at Europe and so agree with you, I am desperate for some warmth and sunshine too, however it all seems so unmanageable as I said I have given up.
Are you able to manage with the POC which you mentioned to me last time ? When I was using the Inogen One 5 it was all fine and I was in either a camper van or a car.
Do hope you can arrange something for your longed for travel
The Poc isn’t available for my requirements if I want to do anything at reasonable speed. But could survive if I really took my time to do dressing tasks etc. only need it for ambulatory use at the moment.
I have the sequi 5 which again is portable but not sufficient for any prolonged walk out side. Thinking about purchasing my own as I can’t take uk stock.
It is tricky isn't it ? Am trying to rack my brains to think where we can find additional information. Although haven't thought of anything yet. I appreciate a Sequal 5 isn't ideal for you and it wouldn't help me either. I did try one last summer but the battery didn't last long and it was a drag having to drag it about.
I think for long distance travel to a destination I could manage with bottles and bottle drops at hotels along the route, and at destination I really do need the LOXm and a static concentrator. The thought though of managing the travelling , the oxygen and the luggage on my own is just too much.
Hopefully, I have managed to find a study centre who offer art courses in South Devon and hoping they will accept a LOX Dewar which will mean I can get away for a change of scenery for a few days at least and near the sea too.
Feel free to direct message met to let me know if you have any success travelling to France with the oxygen you need.
