Bleach Taste in Mouth

I have had emphysema since 2011. Does anybody else experience a bleach taste in their mouth especially after coughing ? I don't usually have a cough usually bit on a few occasions thst I have this happens. O do not smoke anymore.

have you got acid refulx, as that will course like a liquid in your mouth. havent heared of bleach taste before.

Yes I take Omeprazole and taken for years. This is a recent occurrence.

Sometimes antibiotics can cause this taste Carl have you had to have a course with this bout of coughing?

Not been on a course of anti biotics. I take Omeprazole for acid reflux, Mirtazapine, Losartan for Hypertension and Carbosisteine.

Yes, my mucus, what little there is, has a sort of bleachy taste too but I thought that was normal. It has been like that for years.

I would say I have noticed it in the last 12 months. More noticeable when I clear mucus.

Not knowing when you stopped smoking, but your sense of smell and taste do become more acute. We are just coming up for Autumn and I hate how I can smell the dead rotting vegetation everywhere when outdoors, it stinks, but nobody else can smell it like I can.

Not that then, stumped for an answer then, intrigued now as I get that taste when clearing my throat.

Yes that's how I would describe it when clearing throat and not as coughing as I suggested.

Smell and taste are very often linked together, ie. a strawberry tastes the same as it's smell does. I can taste bleach without it going anywhere near my mouth. Sulphuric acid, diesel and petrol are the same, maybe I'm just weird but I can actually taste fumes.

Ummm just a thought if you wear dentures have you changed cleaning agents or adhesive to stick them with ..could be an after taste from that I know somone who had similar and they had changed fixodents ..especially when you cough it could be lasting taste 😀😀

I too have phlegm that tastes like bleach smells, I use Clorox wipes n spray a lot though (but don't necessarily think THAT'S why) I am a current smoker and my phlegm is gray even black all the time, you would think that would be enough to make me quit but no, even worse I had thyroid cancer in 2008 and had it removed now have cancer of some lymph nodes in my throat/neck area, but the bleach has been a new symptom I haven't noticed till about a month ago, any answers or thoughts to the reason is appreciated😊
