Starting pulmonary rehab sessions on Tuesday. Anyone any idea of what happens. Day one is 'Exercise & Education'. Should I wear my Spandex gear, sporty crocs and dark shades. Or put on my mates Armani suit - an excuse for getting out of any activity. ( I am joking) Any ideas of what I will be facing folks?
Rehab or Kebab?: Starting pulmonary... - Lung Conditions C...
Rehab or Kebab?
Depending what you decide to wear I'm concerned about what the others may be facing π I have no idea what to advise but exercise I think requires doing it not just talking about doing it π Take both π
Will dooooo!!
Wear something comfortable. The exercise usually starts out quite gentle and the education bit is focused on living with lung disease so is incredibly useful. Enjoy.
Great - Thank u
Wear comfortable clothes and comfortable walking shoes/trainers.
TIP: I started to use braces to hold up my jeans/trousers which allows me to wear loose fitting clothes. I gave up wearing a belt as it restricts stomach movement to much which hinders breathing, especially deep breathing.
Good one
Just wear your tightest spandex you have and don't forget your swet bands .Take a coat hanger for your armani jacket for fear of your classmates getting wel jel at your clobber and stamping on it π... in my experience it's a gentle routine of exercises over a period of an hour ish...you can rest when you need to ...the last hour is pretty educational about lung conditions diet meds etc ...if you are in a good crowd as I was it's a very enjoyable time just relax and go with the flow....and ensure your spandex is neon in shade and blingy lol have a lovley time enjoy xxx Angie
Good tips - thanks Angie
Exercise and education?running shoes, pencil case and notebook plus apple for teacher?good luck nigel.....skis
Good luck Nigel. It's a brilliant experience and may well start you on a very positive road. You'll probably find it very entertaining....there were some great characters in my group. Enjoy!!! XXX
Thanks Pammmmm
Well normally you would wear your very tight lycra cycling shorts but the Armani jacket should go nicely with them!
It will just be a chat with the exercise expert and an introduction to the exercise I expect. Remember you only need to do as much as you can so don't push yourself too much. Have fun. If you are a good boy I expect you will get a cup of tea/coffee with a biccie
Bring on the Tea & Coffee !! Thank you
Oh can I have your biccie please? xx
I'll hang on then LOL
If as lilaclil suggests you will get tea and biccies for being a good boy.then Nigel i seriously suggest being bad.imagine the rewards.?i am not sure what spandex are but i can hire you out a dry suit and suitable breathing apparatus if required?
LOL
Something comfy, non restrictive and comfy shoes. Don't wear a suit! I think shades be cool.
Is it in a hospital, do they have a doc on hand? Sleep. I know you do not sleep good but this may tuckercyou out,so sleep. Wish you the best at rehab
I dont know Nigel some people say wear tight spandex neon..that would flip them out soooo funny. People are so funny on here
Take your own stopwatch and plenty of lucazade , I am waiting for mine so have been training so I'm match fit when the appointment comes through good luck ..alan
Cheeeeeeeers Alan
Good luck Nigel,
MrsMummy has it spot on. i was fortunate enough to have 3 physios supervising 8 rehab customers. My course lasted for 10 weeks, one session per week. Please keep your documentation and assume that you are going to follow the rehab course for life .believe me it will make a huge difference to your ability to support your condition.
In my case I have bronchiectasis and the exacerbations are reducing in frequency as well as content.
Cast around and look for a local charity or other organisation the runs a course that dovetails with the rehab course you are going to attend, there will be one.
Very best of luck Nigel,
Locheil
Thanks for the useful advice. Just wonder how they'll deal with IPF ??? Hey Ho!!
I went due to PF and pulmonary hypertension and although they were more used to COPD they did know what I could and couldn't do.
That's what I'm thinking
I am taking breathing test wed for ipf and hopefully will get on the sept rehab course.
So have been doing a bit more.
Got a health bracelet.
Wellllllll Done
Yep could only do five laps a few weeks ago now I have got to 20.
So I think the more I can exercise the better but time will tell.
H ii Nigel,
Wow,I had to look that one up. If you have been reoffered to rehab it is because your medical team recognise that you can obtain benefit. The other thing to bear in mind that the physiotherapists who run these courses are highly qualified and will not allow you to undertake any exercise that will cause you harm.
Very best of luck,
Locheil
Thanks you very much. Good points in your response. Cheers
sounds like you need uniform an automatic rifle and a few hand grenades.
LOL
Milk plain and simple to recover, lucozade will affect blood sugar negatively.Milk is cheap available go for full fat for satisfaction taste and ignore bad nutritional advice.
Amani for goals, comfy for exercise, ideally comfort in both.
Kebabs best homemade with local farm meat and simple flavours.
I can't eat anything but top quality kebabs such as you buy in London.
Get as much sleep as you need. Sleep helps you to think properly so listen to body and do not let naysayers influence decisions. Fab and fifties is way to go. Go figure!
For comfort wear a mankini and trainers and don't forget your water bottle.
That's it - Done and dusted. THANK UUUU Ian
