They even sorted out hospital transport after ambulance service gave up the plot so ended up with taxi both ways,All be it with manic taxi drivers who get their thrills from driving?exciting to say the least,......x

Well if Scruffy has her way ( and don't cats always have their way ? ), you won't be doing much flying. Unless of course, she can come with you, in which case she'd probably need her own cannula. Or at very least, a can of Whiskas.

Wythenshawe sounds so efficient and all round excellent. You'll be inciting envy amongst those of us who attend third rate, Mickey Mouse hospitals. Not that I'm in the least bit envious, of course

Scruffy will only eat as good as it looks,doubly delicious Felix as she is a very fussy cat,Wythenshawe is not my local hospital,i rejected them and insisted i be referred to them,it delayed things by many months but as they say "the proof is in the pudding" so it has been worth the wait,xx

Billijean,I f you really are getting a poor service from your local hospital,if poss do a little research and hopefully you will find a better establishment.it is hard work but we have the ability under the nhs,and within reason determine who provides our care,i have learnt this the hard way through the death of my dear wife and i owe it to her to persevere for better treatment,good luck to you in the future

Thanks SS. In 2003, I told my then consultant that I wanted a second opinion and went to see a well known professor at The Brompton. I found it a worthwhile consultation but of course it was just a one-off and cost me a fortune. At this point in my life, I would love to be able to attend either the Brompton, Freeman's or Wythenshawe but again I would have to pay the full whack and could not attend on a regular basis. The hospital I attend isn't that bad in itself but it's afflicted with the cost cutting and bad management plague and cannot be relied upon to provide a bed or care when necessary. I think this is true of all the hospitals here so there's really nowhere to change to. But having said that, if push came to shove and I felt my life or health was in the balance, then I possibly would consult one of the UK's top 3 resp hospitals.

i have been lucky in that Wythenshawe,although not in my local trust area is only about 15 miles away,but i am sure,in theory we could demand a referral to any hospital under the NHS within the uk without cost but they would put immense time barriers in place to it into effect.Even now i am seriously considering spending more of my pension pot on my hernia opp as i know it will be months or more before i can get it,on the NHS,xx
