Those are very long shifts which I should think would be exhausting for anyone. I suggest you phone the BLF Helpline tomorrow (03000 030 555) for advice.
Thank you for your reply I did go to my manager but she sent me a email saying she would listen but I have to do the shifts
No you don't have to do the shifts ....you have a long standing condition that employers should be taking note of and assisting you to feel accommodated within the working environment not telling you that you have to do them ...please join a union and get support from your occy health if you feel these shifts are going to compromise your health and safety good luck Angie xxx
Even if you can work for that length of time per shift you will have to think about how you are going to take your medication some meds have to be taken at the same time each day. Some meds are to be taken specifically in the morning (start of the day) or at night (before you go to bed at the end of the day) your lungs will not like it's routine swapping and changing either.
Your health MUST come first! Do as annienell has said, ring the BLF Helpline.
Employers must make reasonable adjustments under Equality Act and should be supporting you to remain at work for as long as possible. Meet with your manager and get a referral to your occupational health provider. Hope this helps.
Thank you work have said I have to work nightshift
