Last may I had a anual asthma check and the practice nurse sent me for test it showed early stages of copd at that time I was really depressed and lethargic bad cough. I was put on Spirva and still use my rescue in healer daily . I then discovered large areas of mold in my bedroom and lounge . It turned out I had broken gutter and had large dehumidifier for 3 weeks . 12 months later the mold had returned and I am sleeping more and depressed . Could it be mold spore affect and not copd

Hi

If you have had the correct test and diagnose, then you are probably in the early stages.

Mould spores as you describe will only aggravate your condition and should be rectified as soon as possible.

This only alone will reduce the symptoms to the pre test level.

And following all the usual advice about smoking and avoiding any second hand smoke and toxic fumes, with a sensible diet and exercise.

The progression of the condition will significantly reduced.

Hi, I suggest that you get details from the BLF for a contact at the chest department Whythenshawe Hospital , Manchester . Having been diagnosed with COPD oin 2009, nothing helped. I asked to see the consultants letter, which stated at the end 'i cannot see the significance of the aspergillous antibodies in her blood'!!!! Well 4 years later I got a referal to Manchester (well worth the trip)and discovered that indeed I did have the damage to my lungs caused bu aspergillus, a mould!! So seek advice and help

All the best
