Hi everyone hope you having a lovely day. I suffer with IPF and recently have increasing episodes of sudden intake of breath, almost a little gasp, totally involuntary. Wondered if anyone else gets this, and what causes it.

Hi judall,
You are not alone with this, it was discussed a while ago and it seems that a few of us get this happen to them and not isolated to IPF sufferers. I get this happen a lot and I have Emphysema. A most disconcerting sensation. A stutter on the in breath or like when a child is sobbing. You end up with lungs completely full of air, a really deep breath with a pause halfway through.
Hello judall. I get it quite a lot, and I have emphysema, but I'm sorry, I have no idea what causes it. 😊😊😊
