Hope there is a cure... hate that this copd is not reversible.. im trying very hard at pulmonary rehab on treadmill and exercising .
Glad your enjoying the rehab and exercise keep trekking through on the treadmill xxx
You are very, very lucky. I work out with weights, rowing machine, treadmill and bicycle (in that order) and have had to give up the treadmill. I am sure it holds an evil spirit or other malevolent entity - my daughter agrees and she knows about these things! It now sits in the corner of the bedroom, as a clothes hanger. Best use for it.
It might help if I enjoyed exercise, but I've always hated it. I have to perform all of them whilst concentrating on something else. I can't even concentrate on reading the sub-titles on TV programmes, whilst on the treadmill. But the bike is good for an hour - if I place a novel over the clock while I pedal away!
Having whinged enough, I must agree that PR courses are a real kick-start for anyone with breathing problems. You learn simple, helpful exercises amongst people with similar problems and limited capacities, so there's no need to feel shy.
Good luck
Yes, I agree! All treadmills have an evil entity living in them! It is sheer torture for me to walk on one. And when I look at the clock I'm sure it must be wrong because surely I've been on it for at least an hour...nope, 5 minutes! But I do love walking outside. It's not as boring I guess. And you have more to look at. And yes, they do make great clothes hangers! I finally just gave mine to my sister, which actually does use it.
Don't look at it as a job look at it as a challenge that you can beat .. Put the book π down put some tunes on and beat your hour on bicycle π΄ go for the gold π lol .. Get that inner adrenaline flowing . Each time I get on that treadmill or stationary bike π΄ I try and give it all of my attention and fight ...Goodluck π
Hi! I've been on rehab for nearly 2 years now - after 6 months I had lost a stone in weight, and was able to walk further before getting out of breath. It has also kept my type 2 diabetes at around 7.0, from 7.4.
Got referred to my local gym and advised by one of the specialist advisers there.
Now on my 2nd yearly pass. Keep up the good work.
Thanks 1redkite sounds like you are doing great ππ» with your exercising..hope to follow in your π s . I definitely need to shed some weight and I am determined to do so .. Stop βπΌ the donuts and chewing on celery π lol. Why is it celery and veggies don't have that jelly filled donut taste π guess I can pretend at least they can't take that away from us π good luck
Nope π the only cure is in ourselves. Just to keep trying the best we can .They are always saying that there are so many people that actually have copd but have not yet been diagnosed. I actually thought it was just my asthma ... Surprise Surprise π Let's show them what we can do !!! Yolo
Hi Top Dog πΆI guess while I'm on treadmill I get a little pissed that I have put myself in these π . Have only been smoke free now for 4 months , wish I had of got smart sooner . I guess I grew up in an era that smoking wasn't going to kill ya. I'm 62 but don't count numbers . I think too that a little music πΆ especially good rock tunes makes you sweat it out on the old treadmill lol πBut I do like to push myself ... don't like to give in but it does feel good . There are so many negatives about this crappy copd You have to stay positive. Gotta put on the happy yolo (you only live once) and really when u think hard you could come up with something far worse .. So get those running π shoes π on and DANCE π. Don't give up . I know it's copdme but TopDog sounds better lol .Theres a new name for u lol π
