Hi sesh123

There is one but can't bring the link to light at the moment, I posted it previously on someone elses post, there were lots of other links for help with stopping smoking. You can probably find it either by searching this site, or if not a google search.

Good luck and wishing you every success.

Check with your GP too as there may well be a cessation clinic in your GP surgery.

hi zoee, thanks, tried all the nhs and gp groups, didnt really find them that helpfull, having to go a week before you got the support. really need day to day support that other people in the same boat could share.

hi stitch, thanks for your input, i too found nhs support of limited help and a bit patronising, ive tried all the patches ect and at the start they did help but after the initial help i gradualy started again, i thought there would be guys on here going through the same thing and we could help eachother

Its very similar to posting a question like you have done here sesh.

Look up to top of page, Click on the " Blog " tab (next to Home tab)

After clicking on "Blog" look to the right and you will see words:

" Write a Blog Post " Click on that and away you go

:) .... Simples

i might have a go at that zoee, thanks for the info, now all ive got to do is set a date, 3rd august sounds good, day after my b,day, cards and pressies allowed lol

If you do start a group on here, I'll join you....I am quitting late august when there is a period of rest and calm hereabouts :) Also, another blogger highly recommends Alan Carr's book .

hi julie, im aiming for aug 3rd, so i will have a head start and be able to warn u how bad it is- or not. i have read alan carr and still have his dvds somowhere, i might try them

in reply tosesh123

Great. You will have a 5 week start on me probably...as date had to be postponed to give me my best chance of success. I have now arranged the diary here :) when it's agreed that no visitors (smokers some of them) will be coming along for hols and expecting me to be on top form ! I will have company and hopefully some distractions without responsibility and after my little hol too, with stop-smoking buddy (my daughter). Got beadmaking equipment to enjoy and use my hands for something creative rather than destructive. May try maybe before that date too. Know I need what I have set up as tried so often before .... am determined too. Also seeing acupuncturist for this...she says it will work if i really mean it. So here we go soon, we two (and maybe others on here) and we will be pleased :) Looking forward to collaborating on our health with you Sesh :)

Hi, I know this might seem a harsh but..........if you reeeeally want to stop - just stop!!!

People used to do it years ago without clinics and patches etc. etc.

It might seem difficult now but you can do it - honestly you can!!

One day at a time and don't let it win, you are in control......GO ON...DO IT, DO IT, DO IT

But you must really want to.

All the best

Hi Sesh, think of all the people you will let down now that you have 'gone public'.

You have no choice....you have to do it now!

We are all really rooting for you.

good luck to you all, the main thing is you really need to want to give up. i gave up about 5 yrs ago after a number of attempts, you have to have your head in the right place. Mine was this time after the doc said, if i didn,t give up i wouldn,t be here in 6 months. I did it by using a nicotine chewing gum, took a few months on that and then slowly reduced it by using ordinary gum. I have copd and at last count have lost approx 40% of my lung capacity.

GOOD LUCK to anyone who tries, but if you don,t succeed at first keep trying....IT AIN,T EASY

Hi Sesh, I just wondered how you were doing with giving up your fags. Any good news for us yet? All the best

My question is the same as Rocky21, how is it going?

I stopped 16 months ago and if I can do it any one can. I found the patches very good, I also found that my mind lied to me, perhaps that don't make sense to you but it gave me all sorts of reasons to have a ciggie. In reality I knew that if my body packed up then my mind wouldn't exists anyway so I took no notice of it. Main thing is not to beat yourself up if it doesn't work the first time. If at first you don't succeed ................. Good luck :)

Not what you're looking for?
