I finished taking antibiotics and presidone last week, now have a chesty cough, ankles and feet are really swollen and when I cough I get a short sharp pain in my lung area, had plenty of chest infections before but not these symptoms , I have to say the pain is not enormous, but short and sharp and never been there before.

Reading your post again Maggie, those were my wife's symptoms, she has pneumonia. Call 999 and ask for an ambulance, they will get you to A and E, have an X-Ray. They will see what is going on. Best of luck and do not wait.
You need urgent appointment with doc as swollen feet/ankles could be a number of things my Chest Clinic nurse said i had to have a Sputum Test to make sure I had right Antibiotic but doc said wste of money/time. hope it is all sorted soon
The steroids could be a reason for the swollen ankles and feet, that always happens to me after I have taken a course of them. And the chest pain could be from a pulled chest muscle from the coughing. But it's always best to check with the doctor if your having symptoms you've not had before.
Made problem this is part 2. Antibiotics and prendisone caused big problems with me. Swelling feet, mustle waste, high blood sugar, very weak legs & sore feet. Am back in New Zealand now for tye last 3 months and stopped smokng after 60+yrs am 75. Just had my checkup with quake yesterday, blood pressure 140/78. Oxygen reading 100 blood sugar back to normale and breathing great. I have mild copd and emphaseema so i am quite pleased. Your swelling will go down, drink lots of water, get you blood sugar tested. If you go onto google read up on prendisone the after effects will frighten you. Try and stay off them and antibiotics with Amoxy in the name.
Keep your legs/feet up will help with the swelling, it is water. It takes time to get the steroids prendisone out of your body lots water will help it all and a few little walks.
thank you so much, yes it is strange cos I don't feel particularly ill, its just uncomfortable and bit worrying. But having read all of the helpful reply s I shall take them all on board and put my feet up and see what happens, So thanks everyone.
