Ralph, This is exciting for you. I hope you will report on how it goes. Prayers and thoughts and hugs go with you all the way over the Pond! will you have some stem cells from Donald Trump, he might autograph them!
I live 2 hours south of the Tampa place, if that's where you're going. I'll be in NC in the OBX that week vacationing with friends, but will be sure to think of you and send you hugs and prayers that it has a positive outcome for you!
Hi Ralph, may I wish you every best wish for the stem cell procedure, look forward to your updates and although there is very little knowledge in patients quarters about this and current outcomes I hope all goes well for you.,
Good luck to you hope results are good. Will you have to over there long,do they see it through to the finish, then send you home fit & well. Do you need any follow up when you get back? If it's not too rude how much is this costing? I have severe emphysema and can't find a remedy here in UK. Begining to get desperate.
The procedure time Inc i will go into Tampa on Wednesday evening to my room May .
The procedure behind 900 am my time, asst the lung institute on Tampa. There are 4 locations inn America that perform these procedures
On the first day we take blood
From there it goes to their lab b for processing. It is returned and put nack into you as stem cells intravenously. The seer bond day you go through the process again. Two days on the institute is the process .
People I have talked tho, who have had the procedure have all been very pleased with their results. The institute claims an 84 percent success rate and a 10 to 20% improvement on lung function.
Cost is your travel plus at present the procedure cost just increased to $8000.with
Many consider it expensive but in my opinion it is worth the cost with any improvement. Can't take the money with me, so why leave it for family.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I am English but now live in Deerfield Beach in Florida. I have seen a lot of ads for stem cell therapy for COPD and I hope this treatment works for you. Let us all know how you get on. Best wishes.
I had the stem cell treatment in Dec of 2015. It was done in Nashville.
I had the more aggressive procedure that not only did they use my blood but also my bone marrow (at the cost of $12,000).
They were very professional and took good care of me.
I have Bronchiectasis with asthma. I knew that the treatment would not improve the weakening of my air ways (the sign of Bx), but the treatment was to repair the damage to my lungs due to pneumonias, infection, etc.
The results: They said that I should notice a difference in 3-6 months. I really didn't notice a big improvement, BUT, since the treatment, I have not had a major exacerbation, no hospital stays, no pneumonias and no bronchoscopies (which I use to have on a regular basis). I've had more good days than bad.
Also, contribute to that, is that from what I have learned on this website, I have a better understanding on managing my Bx.
Since this treatment is considered research, I feel like I'm helping with it to find a cure for this nasty illness.
Thanks Beth for your post. You are the first person who I feel is a 'genuine' patient, who has had the treatment and reported on it. That's REALLY good news about how your infections seem to have stopped ( for whatever reason ) It would be great if the reason is truly just the stem cell treatment, as that means there really is hope of improvement from such treatment .
I wonder if the info you have learned from this site, could stop ALL infections, I suppose it is possible. Great to have you updating us
I truly think that the combination of the stem cell treatment and knowing how to manage my illness has really helped me.
I don't know what lung illness you have, but I have learned a lot from this forum to help manage and control my Bx and asthma.
Please keep in touch, I am curious to see if the treatment will be helpful for you. It's a lot of out-of-pocket money, but my husband and I felt we needed to try and I don't regret doing it.
Thanks for your response ón how the stem cell worked for you. My issue is emphysema from smoking many years and exposure to chlorine while in the US Army .
I will be going to Tampa Fl for the treatment the end pf this month May. All with COPD that i have talked with. Have had positive řesults. I'm hoping for the
Since you have emphysema which causes scarring of the lung issue, you should do quite well, that's what the additional stem cells do, is repair the damaged lung cells resulting in higher lung capacity.
Beth thanks forthe positive in formation. I am looling forward to possibly more lung capacity. I will keep you updated as soon as i go to and return from Tampa.
Please do let us know how it goes. I have read so much about it but my dr. says its not ready for we COPD'ers. I am ready to try anything so wud appreciate your thoughts afterwards.
I go to Tampa Florida Wednesday May 24 25 and 26 for stem cell therapy
Doctors. Fda and drug companies claim it is not approved by the FDA and National health organization any alternative treatments, never seem to be approved.
All I have personally spoken to that have received stem cell therapy have have only positive to report about outs success. 84% success is what i am told by the institute performing the.procedures. with from 10% to 20% lung function improvement
I will keep you and.others on this group updated. However it goes
