Evening all ...I was just wondering if any one else is familiar with or suffers with both conditions also b12 and vit d deficency..
C.o.p.d....adrenal deficiency - Lung Conditions C...
C.o.p.d....adrenal deficiency
hi there.know nothing about Adrenal Deficiecy or B12.but certainly my wife Cecila constantly had bouts of vit D deficiency, she suffered fron pulmonary fibrosis but also other disabilitys due to a stroke which pretty much curtailed our ability to get out of the house.Eventually the vit D deficiency was put down to plain old lack of sunshine and once i managed to get her outside a lot more bingo it disappeared.I know that sounds a bit simplistic but i imagine many bed/house bound patients are not getting enough natiral Vit D.Sending you a ray of sunshine.cheers
I have adrenal gland insufficiency due to the side effects of taking steroids. They take over the work of the adrenal glands while your on them, but in some cases, they don't start working properly when you have finished the course, so sadly the only treatment is to live off steroids permanently. They have tried weaning me off them and a different steroid but with no luck.
I also have adrenal insufficiency due to long term use of steroids. It was also discovered when I was trying to wean myself off them. I got down to 5mg but the effect on my joints and lungs wasn't good, so I'm now on 7.5mg daily and feel much better.
Which one are you on iv been told I can only have them when unwell stress or operation is needed .iv just had to have a 2nd opinion as 1st endroroligist. Said I get enough steriods of inhaler 😓
I'm on prednisolone every day. I have to double up the dose if I'm unwell and have to go to bed. If I'm involved in an accident or have an operation I have to have an injection. I've had to inform my local ambulance service so they are aware and I've had to join Medalert. What I need to ask next time I see my gp is that if I get a Rheumatoid arthritis flare Ipand get bad fatigue where I need to go back to bed for several hours each day, do I need to double my steroids?
Hi thanks for reply .I'm waiting to see rhumotoligist .I get dreadful pain in legs reduces me to tears at times .. thank you so much for reply don't feel like I'm going mad now .was getting to stage were I was convinced all in my mind .due to lack of understanding from GPS ect ..jan
I think finding someone in similar circumstances is very helpful.
Absolutely don't feel so isolated about how your feeling
I don't know your circumstances, but although my husband and children are very sympathetic they don't really understand how I feel, and if my mum asks me one more time when my cough is going to get better ........
I'm divorced. Which is a good thing lol he would never of understood .my children are all grown up .they sympathise. But no don't understand. And what gets me is when people say I look well .I'm screaming inside thinking if only you could see some of these symptoms. .
I am interested to know how long is "long term use" of steroids? I have been on 10mg steroids for the last two months and would like to stop taking them due to the side effects.
From my personal point of view I would say try to slowly reduce the dose. I have been on various doses for at least 12 years, with very few steroid free times.
I have b12 injections every three months the district nurse come out to my home to do this also magnesium levels drop low which can cause heart attack if not treated with a course of tablets over 3 days so have to have regular blood tests again from home
I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency (which I presume is the same as deficiency) in January so am pretty new to the condition and would love to hear from anyone else with the same condition. I am to be rested for b12 deficiency at my next blood test in about 10 days,
Hi Helen .thank you for replying. I am also recently diagnosed as well .been a on going battle with gp and endroroligist. .I found out last year about b12 defenity and foliate calcium and vit d deficency. .iv not had much advice or support for it .have you .jan
