You should get a gp appointment. It could be anything from a viral thing or reflux. Have you taken any over the counter meds to see if anything eases it? My oh recently had tonsilitus which gave him a recurring cough.

It could be thrush ,I know sometimes inhalers can cause this or reflux xx

Nobody on here can diagnose you Danielle93. As pointed out there are several things which could cause this. Please see your GP to find out what it is and to be prescribed treatment.

I agree with the others, you need to see your doctor.

In the meantime if your cough involves phlegm you could try Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (huffing) to help cough up the mucus. With my condition I produce mucus on my lungs all the time. I was taught ACBT by a physiotherapist and I do ACBT in the morning and evening. It has completely changed my life as now I don't cough during the day or in bed. There is lots on the internet about ACBT; this is a good site youtube.com/watch?v=XvorhwG...

I was taught to do it lying down on each side but it can be done sitting up.

You could put your head over a bowl of hot water with a towel over your head so that the steam helps to to loosen the mucus.

There is lots of information on the web on how to cough up mucus.

Whether you have phlegm with your cough or not, you may find that Fisherman's Friend lozenges (original flavour) will stop the tickle in your throat. I don't go anywhere without a packet.

Hope you are better soon.

Hi Danielle

Yes you must go to see your Dr.

I too have this awful cough, I got all sorts of medication over the counter at first, but nothing helped, so in the end I went to mr Dr he said at first it could be reflux ,gave me Lansoprazole 30mg I to take in morning for a month, went back to see him after the month, no better he then gave me Ranitidine 300mg to take 1 at night for another month and and also month of Lansoprazole again. I also ask to try inhaler. have also had chest xray last week. I am still coughing badly, none of the above seem to have worked, don't know if you are the same but my cough is a lot worse at night when laying down, try propping myself up a bit but still have this terrible cough, have to go back to see Dr next Monday for xray report, he did tell me Not to buy anything else over the counter as they will not work!!.

Don't know about you ?but I am totally exhusted with all this coughing and not sleeping very well.😤😨

Will let you know how I get on next week.

Take care.
