All COPD sufferers should have technological means of spot checking for air pollution. DEFRA's air monitoring stations are useless if you're miles away in the countryside, and we all know that farms and farm machinery can pollute the air as much as road traffic. Why isn't BLF supporting us on this.

True, we should be supported. Take care enjoy your weekend 😊 xx Bernadette
Only the BLF could answer this question and they will not be back here until Monday.
Hi in some ways I agree but they are not that simple to use. There are different sensor heads for different types of particulates, gases etc and then you have the problem of on going calibration. In all honesty the expense to provide COPD suffers with a portable high quality machine to do this would put an enormous expense onto already strained budgets.
Would be helpful but how?
And are pollution levels less at the coast? I have heard all the pollution blows inland.
Is is worth leaving family n friends behind for better air quality at the coast.
Has anyone done this? Has the condition lungs, got easier to manage?

Hi micox
The BLF absolutely agrees that more data and information should be available on air pollution levels. We are working with DEFRA to improve their site, in its current format we also think it needs many improvements. We are taking this aspect very seriously and fighting to make sure that all people with COPD and asthma know when air pollution is high so that they can protect themselves. We’d urge you to write to your MP about this and ask them to raise it in parliament and with the DEFRA minister.
If you haven’t already, please sign up to our campaign for clean air to keep updated about what we’re doing: blf.org.uk/take-action/camp...
Best regards,
Ben
