I've got a nasty chest infection and been prescribed co- amoxiclv. Today I've started coughing blood with the mucus. I've been coughing badly for four days now. Any advice please.

Coughing blood
Normally this is due to small blood vessels rupturing due to coughing. It should clear up however if continues ring your GP or 111 for advice. Obviously if the blood in your mucus starts to increase suddenly seek urgent help.
Great advice from Badbessie so hope you feel better soon Chas. xxxxxx
Hi, if you're in the UK do give the BLF helpline a call. They're excellent and will give good advice. Tel 03000 030555 UK office hours 9-5
Hello - I just wanted to add to the good advise given here already and to add that I was prescribed Tranexamic (500 mgs), which I take (1 tablet 3 x a day) when I get an haemoptysis (coughing up blood), along with any antibiotic too - I'm on Ciprofloxacin (500 mgs). Good Luck and Good Health.
Always best to speak to your GP - mine do phone appointments, as I think most do. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon x
