Taking Control - A Patronising Poem.

β€’27 Replies

Stopping smoking is a breeze

I've done it many a time.

Avoiding starting up again

Is the difficult road to climb.

Don't let the word smoking

Even enter in your mind.

Thinking of patches and vaping

Is to yourself unkind.

When you usually have a smoke

Do something else instead.

Remind yourself that you're in charge

And won't be easily led.

Count out all the money

You haven't burnt away.

Then when have saved enough,

Go on a holiday

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ That's a good one Don! I don't think I know anyone who's found it easy. XXX

I found it totally painless with my e-cig Pam when all else had failed - 7 years smokeless now.

Well done! The e-cig is the only thing that works for me too, but I can only claim 6 months up to now. 😊

Excellent Don. Our daughter read a book by a chap called Alan Carr - not the comedian - and she just stopped smoking immediately. It had such an effect on her. Xxxx

Hi Sassy. Someone mentioned the Alan Carr book to me the other day, and said that it had the same effect on them. Must be good! XXX

Anything's worth a try Sassy, it would be so beneficial if she could...and she has 3 little boys, so everyone would benefit. XXX πŸ˜™

Hi, i read that book several times while puffing away lol tgat was a lot of years ago now, and i did finally stop but years later and a big hokevin my pocket trying various therapies that never worked but that was because I didn't want to stop really but kept being told that I had too, eventually when everyone left me alone i gave up with nicorette quick mist spray,

Good luck to your daughter thats brilliant that the book helped her, he has a good following.

Neither my daughter or my son smoked. They were probably put off by my foul smelling pipe at an early age. (Actually I smoked St. Bruno which had quite a nice smell.)

7 years this year I've been off the cigarettes I found saving the money in a jar was my best motivation and buying something really lovely - I've saved a lot since then but I still chew nicorette gum!

I only recently realised how much cigarettes cost these days. The savings over quite a short period must be substantial.

I sometimes cringe reading my own stuff, but if it makes a few people smile that's great. :-)

My son and daughter both asked what I want for my birthday. I said for you to give up smoking! Out of anything you could this would make me the happiest.

Now that was a good idea. A bit of emotional pressure.

I like the message avoid starting up again. I have been stopped now for 12 years and yet someone on tv lit a cigarette and I said to my wife "I could just use one"

I never will but the thought remains

I'm the same and it must be 20 years or longer since I stopped. The only time I think about it now is at Christmas time when I catch a whiff of a cigar.
