Dust if you must - poem

Dust if you must.

But wouldn’t it be better,

To paint a picture, or write a letter,

Bake a cake, or plant a seed?

Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must.

But there is not much time

With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!

Music to hear, and books to read,

Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must.

But the world’s out there

With the sun in your eyes,

the wind in your hair,

A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.

This day will not come round again.

Dust if you must.

But bear in mind,

Old age will come and it’s not kind.

And when you go, and go you must,

You, yourself, will make more dust.

I am cyber sending you lot a course of hypnotherapy with the mantra ......... ' I do not need to dust' repeat and repeat until it seems the most natural thing to not do :)

in reply to scrobbitty

Thank you scrobbitty - I've received that mantra - am following your advice!

Well done with the poem, Jandan, it makes so much sense. x x

Dust Dust glorious Dust ,no not for me.

My mother-in-law visited me not long after I'd given birth - (2 hours in fact, after a 50 hour labour) and wiped her hand along my mantlepiece, and tutted as only she could tut, and said " you could write your name on here the dust is that thick" and as quick as a flash I replied " isn't education a wonderful thing" ....

Never did get along with her. Wonder why???? :)

I just had to write that out so I'd remember it.

The wife won't be too happy that I've done it in the dust on the dining table... :O

Dust makes you cough so it should be avoided at all cost! :-p

Fabulous poem Jandan, I really enjoyed that - thanks. :-)

Mentioning the "d" word should be banned !!! ;) It's almost as bad as the "h*******k" word .... :O

Loved the poem jandan :)

Love the poem but I thought we weren't allowed them anymore.

Ps it's Ann that does the dusting - in here when I'm in bed.

who said we couldn't have poems?

Hi Jandan, no criticism meant honey.

Over the past few weeks quite a few of the more established members have complained bout how the site has gone to the dogs because newbies, like me, have made unsuitable and undesirable posts. I have personally stopped, they were here before I was, it's their site.

Just meant to drop a warning honey, no offence meant. I managed to offend one other member without really knowing how.

I wander if I really have a place here at all really.

Of course you do Chris! I love all of your posts and I'm looking forward to your next one, I missed a lot of posts recently because my Mr Wonderful was preparing to leave for work...3 weeks on his research boat off the coast of Holland, and I didn't want to spend too much time here, but I did read some post from some grumpy old peeps who were probably having a bad day, they were absent of any sense of humour and blind to the fact that eveything is constantly changing and moving on including this site...nothing stays the same....lets just be ourselves...warm,friendly,humourous,humane,talented,interesting,caring,sharing,copders! Hope your day is filled with love and music and smiles! Carol :) x

Whose site? You are a very valuable member and everyone has a right to a voice - if others object to a post they should direct their concerns to the BLF and not make awkward comments on posts. That's me on the hit list now lol :)

Great poem!

My mother-in-law was always cleaning and dusting but she did say to me sometimes how she realised what a waste it had all been throughout her life, always being at home cleaning. She had a sort of obsession, even at our house she'd sit down for a minute and be itching to start cleaning. She was sweet though, not critical of my much lower standards of housework. She said she enjoyed it. I can't imagine ENJOYING cleaning, but she really did!
