Climbing stairs
'Normal' is different for each of us. Please try not to worry so much because that will make your breathing worse. Calm down, use purse-lipped breathing and you will be fine.
I'm not on oxygen , but with the exertion of the stairs I guess it would make them drop but as they came back up fairly quickly I wouldn't think it will hurt , I do get breathless going upstairs one of the reasons we moved to a bungalow
Thanks no chance of a bungalow unfortunately have to try and limit my drinks
you will have to put not in front of your name lol , hope all goes well with the nurse let us know how you get on
Yes. Always. The stairs are my enemy. 😔
Hi
Seems your in panic mode, relax with some pursed lip breathing as mentioned on previous reply.
For stairs use breathing technique blow and go.
Watch video,
Thanks for posting this stone. It's just recently I have had problems with stairs I live on the first floor in a flat. So I will try this x
Yes to desaturating on upstairs exertion. But good video to use.
This very common with our illness. My blood satsuma are 'normal' when at rest 92 - 96. However as soon as I move or get very anxious they plummet to 76 - 82. I am on Long Term Oxygen Treatment (LTOT) & have resultant tubes trailing behind me. Also like you I have to go upstairs to use our toilet. I was very lucky in as much as my local Occupational Therapist recommended to my Local Government Authority that I have a Stair lift, which I duly received. They also paid for my bathroom to be converted into a washroom.
As I say I was very lucky and am very grateful for the help I was given. Another bonus was that I was 'given' another condenser for upstairs to cut the problems of trailing tubes using the stairlift.
I can only suggest you contact your support workers and lobby them to get a stairlift firstly for you.
Good luck be careful.

I have not got any support workers hopefully at some point I will be pointed in there direction I asked doctors about community copD nurses but nothing happened when respiratory nurse came yesterday she asked if I had seen community matron I know I need support thank you
You need to speak to your Adult Community Support Services (Council). Please be not put off from pestering them until you get an answer, politely of course. The will be able to set up an Occupational Therapy Nurse visit to assess your needs around your day to day living in your accommodation, the main thing is not to give up trying.
All the best,
Markrh
Any exercise I am told will make your sats lower has long has they recover in good time xx
Thank you I do get in a state with myself just feel so down and useless xx
Your are most certainly not useless as anyone on this 'chat' will tell you. You just need to adapt and survive, with lots of support and hope' from fellow suffers with it this illness.
Best wishes Markrh
Thanks mark rh
Knew when to inhale and exhale but she frightened me out of my wits. ''
