I had a complete pet scan Monday. Tuesday Feb 7th I have to have a bone marrow, Does the bright area mean cancer, or can it be lymph nodules swollen or has cancer gone into that area. Anyone with any suggestions.????

Hi Danna as far as I am aware I don't think we have any doctors or consultants on here that could give you a diagnosis from the picture shown. I myself wouldn't be happy anyway receiving a diagnosis from a stranger who doesn't have all the medical facts at their disposal.

If you have any concerns the best people that can give you the answers you require are your medical team.

I wish you well.

I know John. I guess I wanted to know has anyone gone through this. Just to be hit twice in one day is kind of over whelming :)

They really are doing what needs to be done. Hopefully if it is cancer, it is early enough to be cured.

Hi Danna , I have read your previous post and can't imagine what you must be going through. I am sorry that I am unable to be of any help to you. Hopefully someone who has been in a similar situation as yourself will come on and give you some support.

John the fact that you wrote showed you cared and that in it's self is support. The only thing that confuses me now is why would they send me to an INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Is that one someone who looks at the scan all over again and tries to see what kind of procedures that are out there for me that are less evasive??? Just call me one confused puppy...lol

You can be very sensible sometimes John! :D xx

All I know is if contrast was used and it's not same colour of surrounding martial it's not good.

Even if is bone can be treated if early enough

Well Ruby I thought that the pictures would be interesting to everyone. From what I was told, they put this stuff in you and it glows where there is cancer. There are 2 nodules in my lower left lobe that lite up. I also noticed where my spleen and kidneys are light up too, I don't know if you saw my post where I something about Kodak. If you look at the right ankle which would be on your left looking at it you would see where it lights up too. I have RA and every time I have an infusion I end up with cancer. These are no different . 7 months after the infusion I end up with cancer treatment. I have to keep this in Gods hands and hope that the biopsy will come back normal. Now they want to send me to a INTERNATIONAL RADIOLOGY. I have no clue to as why and what they do. I am also having a bone marrow next Tuesday ,,,,Danna

Hi Danna,

I am going to agree with what everyone else is saying regarding getting the advice from your consultant as only he knows why hes ordered the tests so,only he can confirm any results.

But, i can give you my experience of going down the same route as you. An interventional radiology is someone who is more specialized than the usual radiologist we see in hospital's. They deal with all the body and organs and its not just for cancerous tumours. They can actually perform biopsy as well.

I've had RA for 16 year's now and in September 2015 after tests I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis caused by rheumatoid nodules in my lungs. I had numerous nodules 3 to 4mm in size in my upper lobes and 6 to 8 mm in my lower lobes, along with extensive scar tissue. My next ct scan last march confirmed these had grown and yet again n November along with a lung function test there was further deterioration. I now have an appointment with the I.R. and lung function clinic this month followed by a rheumatologist appointment on the 15th and the lung consultant in early March.

From what I've been told by him rheumatoid nodules are very rare in your organs but there's that possibility, though they aren't malignant tumours. Saying that we all know that cancer affects 1in in 3 of us, but hopefully it will just be these horrid nodules.

That's just been my experience but hopefully it as helped to give you another path that it could possibly be.

Thinking of you, take care Linda x

I did some research today after my doctor called me and the appointment for the lung biopsy is Feb 13th. I found out most nodules are round and non cancerous. My nodule is called a solitary nodule. Short form SPN. When the cat scan was done and the radiologist told me I would need a pet scan and a biopsy before the pet scan was even done because of the shape. Linda I hate those LFT. I use oxygen when I need it. Anyway those nodules will not light up unless they are cancerous, or full of inflammation. I have a bone biopsy next week, I am concerned with that, but not as scared as I was, The lung biopsy will take over 4 hours to make sure the lung doesn't collapse. I got my Nodules from Methotrexate. Then I got skin cancer from infusions and I had another infusion in August and now I am fighting this. I will let everyone know what happens....Danna
