Hi. Fev1 is the amount of air you can blow out in one second. 😊

What reading did you get? It should be a percentage figure.

If things seem a little confusing to you, I'd make an appointment with the doctor to discuss the results. They should have explained everything to you. XXX

Let me start again by saying welcome.

Have you had a spirometry test for a respiratory problem?

If you give us a little more information, we can be a bit more helpful. There are lots of lovely people on here who can give support and advice, so please feel free to ask about any worries you may have.

Hi -123

Fev1 is the amount of air you can forcefully blow out from fully inflated lungs in 1 second. It's a volume, measured in litres. They compare this volume against a benchmark for your gender, age & height and the comparison is stated as a % (of predicted, in the jargon).

Ask your surgery for a copy of the results - they're yours, you can insist (in the UK), then come back here.

What were your symptoms that they decided to do spirometry test?
