Well folks after 4 1/2 years fighting for compensation. 2 days of sitting in court ( I didn't have to but wanted the Judge and defendants to visualise a person struggling to breathe rather than a name on a spread sheet.) 5000 legal documents scrolled through and a lot of discomfort. I can finally announce...........................
.............................................................WE WON
Now I have confidence that my wife and two adult children will have a bit of security behind them when I past my sell by date.
I am still struggling to recovery as I went to court with a chest complaint but the result was well worth the discomfort. - The whole procedure should have been sorted in half the time.
My Barrister praised me for my stoic tenacity and decision not to accept the pittance AXA insurance were going to offer me. He said I was the first individual person to take them on at their game of poker with such a high risk outcome. But sometimes you just have to grab them by the B***s and look them in the eyes !!!
So the xmas I wasn't expected to see is going to be a good one . I intend getting to New Year and dare I hope to see another spring
Finally- I want to wish all my HU friends (and Admin) a Wonderful Xmas and hope to see you in 2018
Remember all that kissing under the mistletoe isn't very healthy so keep your masks on and practice the 'Safe Snog?' LOL
Take care of yourself the best you can and enjoy the festive season

Ironically Newlands I have to pay the government back for everything I have received over the last 4 years, which includes DWP Ind. Injuries, PIP (inc Motability allowance) and even my sick pay back to my former employers. Accumulating to around Β£80-100K before I even see any funds -Then all my allowances stop .....Don't forget the government are hard up and need to claw back the pennies
You too Owen. Enjoy the festivities with your family.
Well done Owen. I hope that you are very very proud of yourself. It takes amazing guts and tenacity to chase these people down. Hopefully you have set a precedent for others now. Do have a brilliant Christmas and we WILL be talking to you through the New Year and on into 2018. XX
Well done Owen for standing up against them and not taking the easy option. I am very, very pleased for you, a truly Goliath and David situation yet you stuck to your guns. I think it is disgraceful that it took so long, causing untold stress on yourself and your family.
Well done Owen, I am so pleased for you. You are indeed a tough cookie taking on the 'big boys' at risk to yourself is no mean fete. Brilliant result. Hat's off to you.
Ee the mistletoe I am taking the lead from my six year old granddaughter (pretend throw up and 'GROSS')!
Have a wonderful Cristmas and enjoy the spring.
love cx
This is the best Christmas news for me, I canβt tell you how happy I am for you. I did have a good feeling about it & one always hopes justice will prevail but you can never be sure...especially when up against corporations with unlimited funds.
Youβre one hell of a brave and tenacious man Owen, to take on AXA, but you did it and and you WON! I so admire you xxx
Fantastic news Owen - well done to you and your family for hanging in there and getting a good result. Hope that you recover to enjoy Christmas and start the New Year in fine fettle.

That's fantastic news plumbob I have been thinking about you all week but sometimes I think people have to see how we struggle to breath something they all take for granted.
The insurance should hang there head in shame and I hope they get the biggest court bill ever its the only time they sit up and take notice.
All that's left to say is have a fantastic Christmas and new year with your family take care Plumbob
Are you accepting begging letters ? Only for very deserving causes of course

I am really thrilled for you. Anytime you can take them on and win after all of the horrible treatment they have given you is a great day, not just for you but others that may be in a similar situation.
A big congratulations, and I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, and hope you ring in the spring as well.

I am deeply touched by everyone kind sentiments bestowed on me -It means a lot - THANK YOU
I will have a few days off before deciding to take on the next giant ???LOL
The victory and compensation is brilliant but like all you fellow suffers out there I would rather have a normal life and see my grandson grow to be a fine mine - So it's a bitter sweet victory. But Iv.e peace of mind my wife and kids are secure for a while.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have responded and wish everyone a
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
So take care of yourselves and be wary of that mistletoe ?

You should never give up just because your fighting someone 'bigger'. I'm small and I played rugby for years and never gave in (got to say it hurt sometimes LOL) and I had determination to carry on .... Never let people bully you. do what you feel is right ..... Sometimes it pays off
