You Know THINGs Are BAD When Hospital PULL OUT Old School BP Machine.

Anyone KNOW why ... Well modern ones just read error when you suffer dangerously low BP that why the wheel out old school gauge one's.

Is nice to see due diligence being used in our hospitals and oxygen.

I was reading article in paper on how its costing NHS more in not caring and i waa thinking HOW true is that given mine and dads experience.

Things are not looking to great really for my dad IV lines and BP and Tired heart to name a few.

Dads back on ivs as not drinking enough WELL so i was told BUT i think is bodies dumping water leaky blood vessels kidney stuff SO is on water pills and is hard to see read between lines of whats going on.

Especially as hospital are not doing checks when am around CLEARLYif out happens to dad i will be looking for manager or solicitor that recommended that.

Anyway because of his kidney infection acute kidney injury and sepsis he's heart pill he needs is toxic to kidney and he's carotene ramiprill needs monitoring adjusting daily.

What a farse its turned into ALL because of lack of care and neglect.

As to fixes fix one and other starts MAINLY iv causing plumbery oedema THE only way to combat it is for dad to drink more via mouth.

But that is proving to be harder than it sounds.

Thanks for all replies to my other post and sorry could not reply to each everyone BUT been trying to reform my dad of is bad ways when it comes to remembering to drink.

Hi thanks ... Am trying my best and hospital are now.

I had meeting with bosses given mine and my dads experience and unintensional harm caused to my dad by there neglect lack of due dillagance.

AND hospital have admitted they failed me and my dad and are putting in place procedures and new surgical ward for those suffering from alzheimer's dementia STAFFED by nurses and those with alzheimer's dementia understanding.

SO nothing like this happens again.

Clearly me and my dad are pleased lessions are being learnt AND a new ward is being done on foundation of dads suffering

But like i said is to late for my dad BUT am we are happy for others that follow.

Guess its closest working class get to marmoreal but i would of just settled for him being reminded to drink coming home

Hello JAS. My local hospital became aware of the problem of certain patients being left without adequate care and had nursing staff shortages so have employed unqualified but dedicated workers through an agency to do just what your dad's nurse was doing. They help patients to eat, drink and access the toilets and generally watch over them during the night. Maybe your hospital could look at something similar?

Hi Mrsmummy AS been quite a learning curve full of fair weather friends that was especially trying during holidays ... Have cried buckets felt helpless suffered despair i dont mind admitting.

But i never give up hope or believing dad can be fixed given half the chance.

Given chats to bosses stuff invoked things are changing for the better and have seen carees on my dads ward doing such things.

In early days was like social gathering where those who forget or could not speak up was neglected.

Am glad to say that seem to be changing

I hope you can manage to get your dad to drink more, Daz....probably not an easy task. Is there something he particularly likes that you could tempt him with?

in reply toTee1008

Hi Tes He like's water and tea but cant have tea much really as dehydrates you.

Water he can't see coz bad eyes cataracts and he forgets.

Is home nurse went and visited him and she got 4 glasses water down him mainly coz she reminded him and was there to help and he must been thirsty.

Thus proving my point to hospital.

Is shocking and thats why i don't like pathways as its so easy for hospitals to buriey there mistakes NEEDLESS to say i told hospital my dads not having no sedatives to cover up poor care AS i want to see know whats going on with he's care treatment.

After all as lung diseased myself and like they say there go i.

I have vested interest in my dad not being neglected and receiving life saving care treatment and coming home.

As this no doubt al be facing same myself one day.

JAS don't worry about the tea - all drinks are good when there is dehydration and if he drinks tea it will help.

"In a rare study where people drank nothing but tea for the 12 hour duration of the trial, there was no difference in hydration levels between them and the people who drank the same quantity of boiled water. "

Hi Toci seen you other day back on meant to say hi but forgot.

Nice to see you back :) thanks for link DAD already thinks am a tea boy ITs shame in hospital its not on tap.

Looks like he will be having thermos but yet again he forgets and would just look at it for hours.

Is very sad devastating but i told hospital MY dads coming home NO ifs no BUTs.

Just keep hime alive so i can care remind him.

I would not mind but am not asking for much just someone to remind him to eat and drink when am not there.

Your poor dad may struggle to swallow JAS as that seems to be the nature of dementia. Thinking of you both and sending hope and strength. Take care. Xxxxx

in reply tosassy59

Hi sassy defo agree he as had trouble swallowing but its more alzheimer's dementia like you said.

Even water is hard but he must try .. I was hoping sepsis event would of nocked out bit alzheimer's dementia that was causing eating drinking issues.

But of wishful thinking on my part

When I go to my GP the blood pressure machine never works and they resort to the old way My blood pressure is fine if sometimes a little high It might be a good idea to use. Baby syringe to encourage your dad to drink. You'll get a better idea of how much he is drinking as well.
