Hi Jedi I haven't tried a salt cave as the cost put me off and also there isn't one near to me. I do believe they are beneficial for lung complaints though.

I have bronchiectasis and my respiratory nurse recommended nebulising saline. Since doing this it's been so much easier to clear my chest of yuck.

Let me know how you get on please.

😊

I went to a salt cave in Hove with a group of people from the BLF.

We went into a large room that reminded me of a beach. The floor was covered in salt that looked like sand, and there were easy chairs and stools to put your feet up on. The walls were covered in solid looking salt and salt air was piped through. We had relaxing seashore background sounds and the whole thing was very pleasant. I nodded off and woke myself up with a snore! I can't remember if we were in there for an hour or 45 mins.

That evening I shifted quite a lot of mucous so felt it had been beneficial. However, it is too far away from me and too expensive to go regularly. If it was closer, I might indulge as I found it very relaxing.

Not everyone in our group enjoyed the experience. If you are not a natural relaxer, you could find it boring, I suppose, but I just thought of it as lying on a sunlounger somewhere exotic! You could read if you wanted to, but the light wasn't great for that.

Hope you enjoy it.

I have started going to a salt cave nearby. The first session was free so it gives you a chance to assess its use for you. Then I bought 10 sessions for price of 5 (£150) and only got in 2 before Christmas. Will try again when I get back from Spain where Dr also gave me nebulizer salt after I had a bad flare up. It seemed to help and I'll post again when I've had more sessions. F0iddy

Why not buy a Salt lamp for every room since we did, we sleep better don't have mucus or the cough and breath much easier. Before I tried these lamps I was a non believer coughed most of the day and in bed, was breathless when I went shopping with the wife so didn't really want to go out much. It took about a week for it to work but I'm glad we tried them I've ordered a dozen spare bulbs just in case. feeling a lot better than I have been in years with COPD
