I just read that redbush tea has a bronchodilator effect and can therefore have similar effects to my rescue inhaler. I wondered why I was improving - the tea may have been masking my symptoms. Now I'm in tears - I got my hopes up thinking I was improving for nothing.
What if the tea really was doing my inhaler's job? Is that definitive proof I have asthma, guaranteed?

Hi Great Gateway. I would say that if the tea helped your breathing that can only be a good thing. It is strange stuff though. A couple of years ago I bagan drinking it. Over about a week I noticed that my lips swelled up and I had blisters in my mouth and on the inside of my lips. I stopped drinking it and the blisters etc went away.
not necessarily. Inhalers are given for a variety of lung conditions. Only your consultant can give you a proper diagnosis. I agree with katieoxo. Whatever you have and whatever helps the better. If you were off your inhaler when drinking the tea it could just have been that your breathing improved by itself. These things are very complex.
