Are charities doing as much good as they say.

Or are they telling tales?

That was headline that got my attention.

Personally my own bug bare is cancer research UK and there resent tv appearance.

WHERE they wasted golden opportunity to disclose cancer treatments immunotherapy works.

BUT instead choose to say nothing on issues and why those in UK are not being offered it and are having to fundraise GO to countries that do offer such treatments.

It was emmbarasing and disgrace really.

Well thats my EXAMPLE bug bare of so called charity working in public interest WHEN clearly not.

Hi stone defo agree this more to guts meets the eye ... Our immunty is made in our guts end trails

Was reading lot pharicutacal compines will not do research as it's hard to justify cost of natrul remedies.

At my last cancer scare my lung doc said it did not look good what found on lung ANYWAY at that time I had bad gut inflamtion was trying to sort ALSO had wart on hand nuckle.

But at time of scare I was taking live bactria pills to try repopulate my gut bacteria ALSO I was having swig of almond milk now and again.

I went back for follow up scan and my lung doctor was surprised my scare cancer had vanished HOW why where it's gone said he don't know.

But what is funny is flat wart vanished on nuckle same time and those sarcoma Granuloma spots have gone off my forehead.

I guess my immunty my be on hyper drive that's only way I can explane it OR it's asprin

There is a Charity which I supported for many years until I discovered that more than 50 per cent of donations went to administration of the Charity. I don't give them any money nowadays. But I do now support MSF, which is run very efficiently. I have never thought it appropriate to criticise any Charity which I have not supported financially.

Hi HuwieHex think we all know experienced same thing with CHARITEs.

Only ones I give is BLF and Sepsis trust as out of them all only ones been there when needed advice or reassurance.

Tricky one. Reading 'Black Box Thinking' by Matthew Syed made me think again about admin costs of charities. It may be more complicated than we think. Some of that money goes on research to check that the money is really used where it is needed. For instance there are cases where well-meaning charitable efforts are wasted because there was not enough research done. e.g. Mosquito nets that need up being used as fishing nets. Books sent in African schools, with disappointing results when the best use of the resources was to medicate to eradicate intestinal worms in the children. That intervention showed huge improvements in the children's educational achievements.

I know dubious companies charge charities for people running marathons

One such one is london I was surprised to hear london marathon company charge like's of blf & sepsis trust about £30 each or people to run.

Shocking running marathons for cause close to heart is a business for likes of marathon companies.

I guess charities have to have a Working Capital.....and the government has passed more responsibility onto charities over the last few years. Not a straightforward issue.

in reply toknitter

Is hard one but i see charities as more than charity but a post to be advocates.

Like i said about cancer research the best the drum and why are all discoveries in eu and not uk.

Yet they dont say boo thats my problem with em as its bad enough having condition and then to have bad advocate compounds our issues.

My husband died of Lung Cancer 5 weeks after diagnosis. He received help from the Big C and Marie Curie Nurses. The Local Hospice helped too, and is still helping me with Bereavement Counselling. Everything was fast tracked in the NHS too.

in reply toAzure_Sky

Sorry about your husband truly is very sad lost few to C and diagnoses was late in all cases.

Glad you found them helpfull

It's difficult JAS as charities pull st the heart strings. I also support BLF plus BHF and cancer research because of family members having lung problems, heart disease and cancer.

Take care xxx
