Enlarged Lungs

I have an ongoing slight cough. A recent in x-ray revealed enlarged lungs. GP says this is due to lung damage through smoking. Can this be true as I gave up smoking 35 yrs ago and have no shortness of breath?

I stopped smoking 40 years ago, and I have hyper inflated lungs too....but I do get breathless. Guess what gets the blame

Hi. I had an ongoing cough turns out I have Bronchiectasis. I was told it could be that I smoked for 25 years but it was because I had pneumonia when I was 24 and that had already scarred my lungs so its not all about if you have smoked although it does not help.
