Yes it did work on my fire/tablet thingy. That very graphic, real, smack you in the face video should be played in doctor's waiting rooms and hospitals, just the first two that come to mind. OMG what idiots would not be thinking about the damage smoking does.
I dont think that smokers will accept this. They tend to deny anything that even touches on their smoking . I have two smokers next door. All their children have asthma and the 3 yr old was in hospital last winter. They know cigarettes are problem, but have a stressed life and it is an escape. If their childs health does not stop them nothing will.
If we make everything in life that is a danger to it illegal then i doubt we would do anything at all, were would be stop?advice as to the dangers of partaking is far more preferable in my mind and far more liberal.
Wow cant you pls think of the people that are still addicted to the stuff because this will not change there minds ! as most ex smokers know it has to come from there own informative choice .
They already know and need to make there minds up without too much pressure and then make the choice, .Sometimes graphic images will not work, only my own thoughts .
If I was missing nicotine, then I would utilise a nicotine patch, and certainly not get a fix from burning tobacco, as it is I manage without a thing thank you.
Also to be perfectly honest, there is a warning that there are graphic images that is visible without having to consciously clicked on the posted link and after that the video link has to be clicked on as well. It is not exactly shoved it into anyone's face without their permission.
Of course but I worry about other people whom it might be shocking too I already know the damage and what the lungs look like I am a ex health professional. I did not want to argue just my opinion.
I wish that these types of image were around when in my youth. It might have made such a difference to my life. Not just to my health but financially as well, as it must have cost many thousands of pounds during those years.
"Initial oxygenation index tests were OK, but when we harvested the organs, we realised we wouldn't be able to use them." That is really saying some thing! So after 45 years of the chain smoking of unfiltered roll-ups, half as long again as those lungs and initially diagnosed with severe emphsema, you can imagine that mine must have been even worse.
I would like to think that after 3 1/2 years of not touching a cigarette it has improved the state of them a little, but I doubt it somehow. 45 years of serious abuse and the ten years before that of a pack a day, is going to take a lot longer to fade than I have years left.
Same here Hun although I smoked for abut 15 Years. My Mum never smoked, my Children never, My Grandchildren would not allow any smokers near them. There are lots of reasons contributed to Lung Disease, Smoking being the main one. Alas , we have to make Best of a very Bad Situation, I doubt if I will be around in 2 years, so if I do get to 70, I know I've had one hell of a Great Life. xxx Love n Hugs.
Right...you will be around in 2 years time because neither you, or the medical professionals have a right to give up on you...sorry, I am all fired up about this horrendous disease. Band aid as a source of raising awareness funds for fast tracking research. I dont know but everyone of us needs to fight for each other. First person to encourage me. I now want to encourage you, dont know how but I do. Sorry x
Thank You Hun for your Positive response for me, I knew you would come through your Doubts of the past. I will fight as long as The Lungs allow me , I'm just being a realist. The past couple of weeks with the exacerbation going on & on has drained me of my Strength, it will come back and I will get strong again I'm sure. Thank You Emily for your Encouragement, That's why we are all here together, which was what I said to you all that time ago. So Thank You Hun. Love n Hugs . XXX C.
I remember seeing an Horizon programme years ago showing a pair of healthy lungs which were pink and healthy. This was followed by a pair where the owner had died of lung disease. These were jet black and flat with liquid oozing out. This brought it home to me like nothing has before or since the damage smoking can do x
Thank you 2greys for posting this, it is a shame that it cant be put into schools, thats where it starts and as you said if we had seen this when younger it could have made such a difference to our lives.
I know smokers get annoyed with people trying to help them give up and become quite defiant but deep down they know the consequences, it is an addiction.
I do believe that the makers of tobacco should be made to remove the 4000 or so chemicals that have been introduced to make it more addictive, as you say how this can be legal beats me. I am perhaps a reformed smoker but would truly love to see people get the strength to give up this really damaging habit x
I know some smokers where nothing would deter them however when I was a teenager a nurse came into school with a blackened smoker's lung in a glass case - it certainly stopped me from wanting to smoke and I even managed to get my parents to stop smoking as it had such an effect on me (the lung) Smoking really bothers me especially on holiday when we want to sit outside and enjoy a drink only to find smokers everywhere . This happened when we were on holiday last week - we found a lovely place to sit only to be joined a little while later by smokers who lit up without even bothering to ask if we minded so we immediately went and sat inside.
