Hi. I've just been diagnosed with Bronchiectasis and wondered how anyone gets on with exercising.

Bronchiectasis
Is a pain but no mater how little you do have to HELPs with tolerance and coping with breathlessness
Hi Donna,
I have had bronchiectasis all of my life. It is important that you exercise to keep your lungs working and help to loosen any gunk which you will be needing to get out of them. As for which sort. Well I have done everything including, yoga, pilates, ice skating, aerobics, racket ball. I walk my dog every day and being a basically lazy person enjoy this the most. I know some people with bronch who run regularly. It depends what you enjoy and what you are comfortable with. Pace yourself, not pushing yourself to exhaustion. If you have an exacerbation give any energetic exercise a rest whilst the abs help your body to fight infection. I hope that helps.
Thank you this helped a lot.
I have had bronco for 12 years but recently my consultant suggested Pulmonary Rehab, which my GP set up for me at the local hospital. The advantage of this is that it teaches you, through individual helpers, how much you can do and how often. I suggest you ask your GP to set it up for you.
Hi,I was diagnosed with Bronchietasis last year,I also have emphysema,I do get very breathless at times but exercise is the best way forward to manage our conditions,I started pulmonary rehab 3 years ago and it has helped me so much, also exercises at home daily are a must, also walking if you can,all helps to keep the lungs clear, good luck.

Hi Donna
I was diagnosed with COPD some 5years ago. It does not impede my life too much. I think the secret is getting a diagnose early and exercise on a regular basis. Plus a positive outlook - the glass is always half full.
I feel sure you will get good advice from members of this forum they all seem a caring lot
