Hi. A paper mill doesn’t sound ideal for someone with asthma or Bronchiectasis . Maybe ask your respiratory consultant about the working environment? Perhaps you would be eligible for a medical retirement? I hope someoneon here can give you some good advice.

Hi, I was medically retired with bronchiectasis after two years of constant illness and antibiotics. Employers have to make adjustments under equality legislation so you could ask to be redeployed. Do you think your job has caused your problem? If so you may have claim for industrial injury?

Before I was retired I had two interviews with occupational health. Your employer will have something like this I expect. Maybe you could work in the office? Whatever, you would be amazed what you can live on . My income is severely reduced but I manage well. Good luck bud.

Hi,

Problem is if they have been negligent would cost to take them to court. What about contacting the Health and Safety Executive for advice or even a lawyer. That's a horrendous state of affairs there.

The health and safety went in two weeks ago asked to see the mek pulled 3 boys off the line and asked for there ppe to use it they got told they had two weeks to sort it out and I got the call to go ahead with claim I’ve got a good lawyer I’m prepared to go to court as there is 27 boys who also used the product for them if I can get them ppe can save them from chronic illness then it be worth it

Wow.....That company are in trouble....and should be! What a shambles. Take them all the way! They might settle out of court. Good luck . Crap that you have to suffer the consequences . Tests of mek will hopefully demonstrate the harm it causes.

Yeah I didn’t realise how harmful it is until I seen it online my work has failed in a duty of care I think they will want to settle out court as it would be bad for the company been getting hassle for not turning up taking money out my wage even with a sick line in i have it in writing also that I had to ask for my mask couldn’t make it up

You certainly couldn't make it up! They won't want bad publicity either .

OMG Malkybhoy missed your post somehow. What a horrid situation for you to be in - I am so sorry. I truly hope you go ahead and win this case. I hope too that you have a good proactive bronchiectasis consultant, as you will need to be as well as you possibly can, especially through all this added stress.

Wishing you the best. Please let us know how it goes.

Cx
