Hello.... does anyone here with bronchiectasis have Essential
thrombocythemia or know anyone with both? I have both and one seems to be interfering with the other.

It’s a no for me Ramy. Is the thrombocythemia new for you as I don’t remember you mentioning when we met. It is such a pain when we get other health issues, as if bronch isn’t enough. Is the thrombocythemia chronic too?

Hello!!!! 😀 I have had ET for decades...may have referred to it as bad blood or not at all. It is chronic but medicine usually controls it. My platelet count has started reacting to chest infections so dr blood wants me to take more nasty medication and I want Dr Lung, bless him, to control the infections then I wouldn’t have to take more nasty stuff. Poor dr Lung doesn’t know about this!
I have another blood test on Friday to see if the plc has come down.
I hate the fact that one condition is now majorly affecting the other. I wanted to see if some others have both and what happens to them. It’s pretty unlikely but worth asking... someone else does have an MPN (ET is one and there are 4 I think) and bronchiectasis too.
I hope that you are well. We should do coffee again soon. Xx
h no, that sunds a real pain for you. Dr. Lung is amazing and will hopefully come up with a plan to help keep you off the ‘hard stuff’.
With me the interaction is the GI stuff.
It would be great to meet up again. I hope you don’’t mind if I wait ‘till spring as after this lot of IVs I am trying to avoid bus travel for a while and trying to walk a bit more locally to keep up/get back some conditioning over the winter.
You didn’t mention it hun - I think we were too busy putting the world to rights!

Sorry Ramy22, I have never heard of this before, hope you can get the correct treatment. Irene x
Thank you Irene.... I’ve had it a long time.... it’s just now being affected by bronchiectasis! Xx
Are you managing to control this without medication, hope it doesnt cause you any pain. Is it worth knocking out the meds for bronch whilst you get this sorted, or is your bronch too bad. What a nightmare x
I have medication for the ET to control my platelet count and there is no pain... but every time I get a chest infection, which is all the time in the winter in the UK, my platelet count is increasing. But, Dr Lung might be able to sort it... coffdrop reminded me how great he is.
Thank you for asking xx
