A CT scan would show up emphysema, unless you have already been checked for that, in which case you would have had a CT scan before.

Is emphysema the same as copd.

COPD is an umbrella term covering chronic bronchitis and emphysema. When i was first diagnosed with COPD ( chronic bronchitis) about 2 months later i had a CT scan which showed i also had emphysema.

Hi it is quite normal to have scans they show more than an X-ray would. I had one when I was having infection after infection. And that showed I had a small amount of bronnchictasis as well as COPD. Take care

Hi do you see a consultant at the respritary clinic if so you are in good hands once you have the scan they will know what they are dealing with and put you on the right medication.

Yes I do, I have had other tests done one showed a nodule, I think that's what it called should I be worred. Thanks.

Not necessarily. A nodule is small by definition under 3cm and can disappear with no treatment. So, you may find that your Doc will just watch it to ensure it doesn't grow or change and you will have another scan or x-ray in 6 to 8 months time. A CT scan will show everything in more detail so that a treatment plan can be made. Try not to worry do yoga breathing to try and keep calm until you have had your scan and know the results.

Take care

Hi Teresa and welcome, a ct scan shows a lot more detail than an xray which in turn will tell you what you are dealing with. It is nothing to worry about. Take care xx

Hi and welcome ... I have just been threw similar process and repeat ct scan's following a 9mm elongated oblong lung Nodle the found on Granuloma lung tissue.

All books said it looked bad even my lung doctor BUT on follow up scan it resolved it's self.

As to vitamin D deficiency I also had that and antibody test reviled I had also had no IGM antibodies that as explained infection's was getting.

Teresa555 Is your Vit D deficiency being addressed? If you are taking a D3 supplement there are important cofactors that should also be taken ie Vit K2-MK7 and magnesium.

Hello Teresa, and a warm welcome.

A scan is nothing for you to be worried about. It's good as it will give much more detail than an xray. If you are short of Vitamin D then you will be given something which will bump it up. I have moderate copd, have never had a scan, but I did have an xray before I had the spirometry which confirmed copd. Let us know how you get on?

:-)

There could be many reasons Teresa; a scan is not painful, it will just show the Consultant more about what is going on in your lungs.

Ten minutes a day sat with sun on your eyelids, just relaxed, resting...will give your body enough vit D for the day 😁 Hope your appointment goes well and you get all the help you need to stay as well as possible.Be time for that very important annual flu jab soon! huff xxx
