I have a problem with a lot of mucus in my throat especially in the morning when I wake up. I am so tired of this. I told my doctor about it he said to use a saline to rinse out mucus from my sinus. I tried that it does not help. Please help!!

Ok, thank you david 12. I do not smoke. I will ask my doctor.

I use Saline on regular basis, but the thing I done was to cut out milk as it thickens it, also drink more fluid I get through about two pints of squash s night.

Thank you ian58morley, I don't drink milk but I do eat eggs. I heard that diary products will produce a lot of mucus. I drink plenty of water, but maybe I need to drink more.

Pete has Mucoclear in his nebuliser but still gets some mucus in his throat. Saline does sound like a good idea. Good luck with it anyway. Xx

Maybe drinking plenty of water during the evening will help, and perhaps an extra pillow at night. Just a thought. I hope you find a solution, it must make you miserable.

Thank you Jennifer. I sleep on lots of pillows. Maybe I need to drink more water in the evening. I hope I will find a solution, because this really sucks!

I have the same problem. My consultant prescribed Mucodyne 375mg. One four times a day. These help, also changed milk fro semi to skimmed.

Could be reflux - are you on antacids? And it can be caused by your inhalers. Make sure you rinse well.

Start of as clear as poss before bed, saline usually helps: Gargle a cup of hot salty water (half teaspoon salt) before you go to bed.

Plus saline rinse the sinuses. Did you use a netti pot?

And try a ranitidine last thing.

Hi Soulsaver, I do have acid reflux. My doctor prescribed ranitidine. I am taking 300mg one tablet once a day. I will gargle with salty water before bed time. I was doing this but not every night. No I don't use a netti pot, maybe I need to try that. Thank you!

I guess a late reply is better than none. I use a solution of saline and water to rinse my sinuses but the biggest help is musinex, (guaffinessin). Follow instructions and take couple of times per day, especially before bedtime. It really helps with the phlem. Mine is so bad I am in voice therapy on drs. ,orders. I actually have excersizes to do daily for it. Oh yeah, tons of water, then more water!

Good luck,

Bruce
