PR course
Hi
Pulmonary rehablitation usually two hours per day twice weekly for six weeks .
One hour exercise one hour education tea and biscuits.
Different areas may be slightly different.
Access is by referral either by GP, Consultant or Respitory nurse.
Prior to they will be a assessment to gauge you suitability, discuss you goals, and any other concerns.
I'm always surprised when I read you do one hour of exercise in PR. I can't imagine doing an hour of exercise and I am only moderate so not sure how those that are severe can make it through an hour of exercise. I know everyone is at different fitness levels and can tolerate different amounts of exercise but I have always assumed if you can do an hour of exercise you wouldn't need PR.
hi
the time allowance is one hour, my course was 14 exercises, four singular and five we did twice, each exercise is for 30 seconds building up to 2 minutes by the end of course. prior to there is a warm up and a wind down at the end.
Hello jkboxes, Stone's replies are always good and to the point, where I tend to waffle.
If you like reading the posts, type Rehab into the 'search' thing in the top corner and it will bring up lots of posts on PR.
We didn't have biscuits!!
Let us know what happens. Sue x
Hi, Started a second course of PR last week! Referred by my GP (at my request), walking test (20 mtr timed - I failed it!) to determine your fitness at the start.
The exactly at stone says - a room full of silent, nervous people who, by the 2nd session never stop talking and joking!
Enjoy!
